GM Will Offer Internet Access in Most 2015 Year Model Vehicles

Pricing not yet announced for the service which is provided by AT&T
GM has announced that it has teamed up with AT&T to
give customers internet access
inside most of its 2015 model year vehicles (courtesy of an LTE modem). The partnership will allow AT&T customers add their vehicle as a device on a new or existing AT&T data plan.
The plan will also allow owners of LTE modem equipped vehicles to purchase access on an “as needed” basis, similar to what AT&T already allows with tablets such as

GM VP of Global Connected Consumer said during the Barclays Global Automotive Conference, "So we’re trying to make this as flexible as possible and as easy as possible to get the customer used to buying data connections inside of their vehicles."
GM and AT&T haven't announced pricing for the service, which is expected to be available in mid-2014. It should also be noted that the integrated AT&T service won't replace GM's OnStar service.

cars have bluetooth integration for music and phone, sure. why cars still dont have (and have never had) current electronic interfaces is beyond me.
a 5 inch screen and android 4.0 smartphone from the last two years... it'd cost less than the super expensive sat/nav units and actually be worth the price.
they might say they worry about reliability and lack of trust in the user to not screw up their car, but really. old people use android handsets just fine.
bricked headunit? drive it to a local dealership and have it fixed with a jtag.
