McCain wants Alexander to be held accountable for NSA leaks

Senator John McCain shared some strong opinions about the recent U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) leaks, saying that Keith Alexander should resign (or be fired) and that Edward Snowden certainly shared NSA secrets with the Russians.

In an interview with German newspaper Der Spiegel, McCain (R-AZ) said that Keith Alexander, director of the NSA, should absolutely take responsibility for the leaks by leaving his position.

"Of course, he should resign, or be fired," said McCain. "We no longer hold anybody accountable in Washington."

McCain also placed blame on President Barack Obama, the NSA and the congressional intelligence committee for the NSA leaks.

McCain also had a lot to say about former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who worked as a computer systems administrator for the NSA and used employee login credentials to access and download classified documents. He then leaked them to the media earlier this year.

"And now we have a contractor employee, not a government employee, who has access to information which is, when revealed, most damaging to the standing prestige of the United States and our relations with some of our best friends," said McCain. "Why did Edward Snowden have that information? And what are we doing as far as screening people who have access to this information? It's outrageous, and someone ought to be held accountable."

McCain further believes that Snowden has certainly shared NSA secrets with the Russians during his asylum in Russia.

"[Russian president Vladimir] Putin will grant him asylum indefinitely," said McCain. "The Russians know if they send him back that's a lesson to other people who might defect. I'm sure that Mr Snowden has told them everything that he possibly knows.

"If you believe that Mr Snowden didn't give the Russians information that he has, then you believe pigs fly."

Just last week, it was revealed that Snowden conned between 20 to 25 NSA employees to give him their login credentials and passwords while working at the NSA regional operations center for a month in Hawaii last spring. Snowden reportedly told the NSA employees that he needed their passwords in order to do his job.

But he campaigned on a platform of NOT doing this. So your knee jerk instinct to defend him is falling flat.

Everything happening under his Administration IS his fault. He's the President! Not just another politician.

Don't get me wrong, he is a POS just like the rest of them, but this started before he got there.

I know you guys are more concerned with blaming the one side than fixing anything though.

Aw, man... I have admitted I blew it. I voted for him in 2008 and it was a mistake. I have said that many times... And I am not absolving him of anything. I think he sucks, one of the worst presidents ever... But this wasn't his baby. Made it worse? sure, but not his baby.

It's kind of like blaming Brezhnev for the spread of communism. OK, you could do that, but it wasn't his baby, he didn't start it and blaming him for it is pointless without addressing the entire lot.

Again my point to you is always the same, you stand one one side of the fence slinging mud and blaming everything on the other side while the people running your side are stabbing you in the back. They are all the same "heinous anus".

LOL... It's all good and I wasnt meaning to point any fingers... My only point here at all was that (even though I think Obama has done a crap job and is one of the worst ever) I dont think that all of this NSA nonsense is specifically his doing, he is just continuing it.

I cant even count how many negative things I have said about Obama in this thread, but still, its not enough for you... You need to hate him even more! LOL... I dont think I have it in me to hate anyone as much as you hate Obama, but we do totally agree he sucks at least. LOL

I hate all Leftists Liberals. They should all die, and the world WOULD be a better place.

I would say throw them all on an island together, but the UK is already taken *rimshot*!

Then you're talking about eliminating most Americans because we are a nation dominated by liberal economics and leftist socialism masquerading under a false libertarianism.

Put simply: we are a plutocracy where the 1% has a vastly disproportionate share of the financial wealth and political power.

Of course, most Americans have no idea about a lot of these things. They think the USA is vastly more equitable than it is and they want it to be vastly more equitable than it is.

Harvard Study: Americans Vastly Underestimate Wealth Inequality, Support 'More Equal Distribution Of Wealth'

quote:
Americans vastly underestimate the degree of wealth inequality in America, and we believe that the distribution should be far more equitable than it actually is, according to a new study. Even demographic groups not usually associated with wealth redistribution such as Republicans -- desired a more equal distribution of wealth than the status quo.

Americans thought the richest 20 percent of our society controlled about 59 percent of the wealth, while the real number is closer to 84 percent. They also believed the top 20 percent should own only 32 percent of the wealth.

Without knowing which country they were picking, 92 percent of respondents said they'd rather live in a country with Sweden's wealth distribution.

Stalin and Hitler would welcome you to the group if you were able to eliminate so many leftist liberals.

"Bla bla bla blaaaa - sorry were you talking to me?

Seriously I would prefer you just not talk to me, you always say the same crap and it was crazy then, it's crazy now. "

Says it all about the infamous Reclaimer...

Yea, Dems never threw blame at the other side.lol It was Obama's entire campaign against McCain equating him as another Bush. McCain would've been terrible but still leaps and bounds better than Obama.

There is no other side.

As Taibbi documented, the same 1% donors bankrolled both candidates -- with only minor differences.

They won't pay to get someone in who will actually be a populist.

Since the presidency is determined by who accumulates the most 1% money, there is only one side.

That's what I am talking about... The show in DC is all about "divide and conquer" via distraction. The "proper coffers" get fed no matter who wins.
