Pre-orders from a Microsoft Store get additional bonuses

The six-inch Nokia Lumia 1520 may have announced last month, but we are just finding out that the official launch date for the massive phone is November 22. For those that are eager to throw down some money right this instance, pre-orders are kicking off today.

Nokia has now announced that AT&T customers can pre-order the smartphone for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement. Pre-orders can be done online and in local AT&T stores.

AT&T will offer the phone in matte black, matte yellow, glossy white, or glossy red. Initially only 16 GB versions of the device will be available, but Nokia says AT&T will offer a 32 GB version in the near future.

One of the key features for the Lumia 1520 is the 20-megapixel PureView camera featuring ZEISS optics and optical image stabilization. The phone will operate on AT&T's 4G LTE network and features a six-inch 1080p screen.

AT&T will also provide buyers with a $20 credit to buy apps in the Windows Phone store and 50 GB of AT&T Walker cloud storage space. Buyers also get a free copy of Halo: Spartan Assault with the purchase.

In addition, if you happen to live near a Microsoft Store and purchase the smartphone there, Microsoft will give you $70 worth of app vouchers and those that pre-order from the Microsoft Store will get also a free flip cover.

They are really giving away a lot of free stuff with this, wow. $70 worth of app vouchers and a free flip cover or $20 voucher and 50GB of cloud storage. Everyone gets Halo: Spartan Assault.

I also like that they are pricing the phone at $199 instead of $299. This is a pretty great value if you don't mind the Windows Phone ecosystem. The phone itself is likely rock solid, Nokia makes good stuff.

Yup, they seem to be getting it down pretty close to the sweet spot... The only thing left Nokia needs to work on is smaller bezels IMHO. 6 inch screen and STILL big fat iPhone size bezels. It just makes the phones too big for the screen size, especially on a phablet.

I'm just not impressed. Its just a big phone. No stylus/digitizer, no side by side app function. No floating app window.

Android gave Samsung the flexibility to make the Note more than just a giant phone. Its really sad that Microsoft can't give Nokia the tools to make this a true phablet experience.

I'm hoping WP 8.1 includes side by side support like RT. They're getting close to merging the two. It's likely why RT isn't going anywhere. WP 8.1 is rumored to bring support for up to 10" devices so I would have to imagine it's included. If you ask me they should at least announce the feature now so people buying this know that they have that to look forward to.

Otherwise you're right, it's just a big phone. The 929 is more interesting as it stands.

Hey retro I recently came across this and since you're always talking about bezel size, wondered what you thought.

Perhaps the thicker bezel lends additional support. Their unibody polycarb phones are well built and quite solid.

How dare you make a joke at the expense of something I like! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!

That was a good one. Not that I've spent $70 on an app platform on any of them. iOS is closest because of Final Fantasy releases... Hard for me to turn those down.

I looked long and had at the Nokia 1020, before going with the 5.5" LG Optimus Pro. After being with Apple for 4 years, I didn't want to go with another tightly closed ecosystem.
