I will be curious to see how some of the aftermarket coolers work for the 290 however.

Which would then negate some of the price/performance advantage.

I do like the card but it would be unusable for me because of the noise factor.

Of course some this is not an issue.

After NVIDIA's price cuts, I think the GTX 770 is the best balance of performance, price, and noise.
Yes, I was waiting for AMD's 290 to arrive and for nVidia to respond by cutting their 770. I didn't have to wait long. They announced last week the 770 MSRP was dropping to $330. That's a pretty good price. Interestingly, NONE of the major sellers are listing the 770 at MSRP. I don't understand why either. Perhaps it's too soon. eVGA's 02G-P4-2770-KR GeForce GTX 770 2GB is currently listing for these prices:
Amazon: $342
Newegg: $345
TigerDirect: $340

While the above price drops are nice, they really should be selling the 770 at MSRP. Either it's too soon or they need to get the new inventory from the manufacturers which were produced at the new lower MSRP price. I am not in a hurry so I'll probably wait.

AMD should be close to producing a 20nm chip its on the roadmaps for global foundries and TSMC that the end of 2013 20nm manufacturing should be in full swing so we could see die shrinks in Q1 2014 from both sides. I'm going to try and hold on until I hear about the next die shrink.

I find it odd the only the top and bottom R series has the audio option while the middle doesnt so Im betting that within 5 months we see the entire line get revised.

Support AMD. I'd really hate to live in a world where my options are Intel integrated & Nvidia--both sans competition.
