AMD mobile price cuts for October 23, 2006
AMD Mobile Turion and Sempron price cuts and more

AMD is expected to announce price cuts on October 23rd, 2006 for its complete mobile processor lineup. The price cuts affect Turion 64 X2 dual-core Socket S1 and Sempron Socket S1 and 754 mobile products. Desktop replacement catered Athlon 64 X2 and Athlon 64 will not receive any price cuts after the scheduled July 24th, 2006 price cut.

However, a new model will join the Mobile Athlon 64 X2 product lineup in the form of the Mobile Athlon 64 X2 4600+. Pricing for the new Mobile Athlon 64 X2 4600+ will be around $257.

AMD’s Turion 64 X2 product lineup will receive 16% price cuts with the exception of the upper end Turion 64 X2 TL-60. Instead the $337 Turion 64 X2 TL-60 will receive a more drastic 26% price cut in time for the new Turion 64 X2 TL-64. A new single-core Turion 64 MK-36 for Socket S1 is expected to arrive in time for the July 24th 2006 pricing structure. There’s no word on the clock speed and cache configuration of the Turion 64 MK-36 though.

Turion 64 35-watt and 25-watt Socket 754 products will be unaffected by the October 23rd, 2006 price cuts. Sempron 25-watt products for Socket S1 models 3500+, 3400+ and 3200+ will receive 24%, 35% and 19% price cuts respectively. A new Sempron 3600+ is expected in the near future at the $127 price point too. Socket 754 25-watt Sempron products are expected to receive price cuts as well. Models 3400+ and 3300+ are expected to receive 31% and 26% price cuts come October 23rd, 2006.

Other than price cuts and a few new models here and there AMD’s mobile product lineup is pretty straightforward. It’ll be interesting to see what AMD has in store when Intel releases Merom, Napa and Santa Rosa.

Cuts are already rumored for desktop PC's but laptop chips will probably not be affected until the laptop chips launch, shich is likely to be one quarter away (or in other words sometime around October).

That price table is confusing...It shows everything as Socket S1, and the article references the Athlon 64 X2 4600+?

Which is correct?

Please correct the table or the article...
