Announcement comes from companies CEO JK Shin

Samsung launched its Galaxy S4 smartphone back in April and the device has proven to be incredibly popular. It took the smartphone about two months to sell 20 million units and four months after launch to hit 30 million units. As the phone has aged and competition increased, it's sales pace has declined.

The Galaxy S4 sold only about 5 million units in August. However, Samsung CEO JK Shin recently stated that over 40 million Galaxy S4 smartphones have been sold globally since the device launched. Considering the phone is been around for about six months, this is an impressive feat for Samsung.

Samsung has continued to roll out some interesting new products following the launch of the Galaxy S4. Most recently, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Galaxy Note 3 has impressed both reviewers and customers; however, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch has proven to be rather unloved in many reviews.

Same boat here, did not want the Samsung Bloat, went with the LG G2, and it is really an incredible phone.

Comparing iphone to GS4 is silly, but it is still valid in some respects, since the GS4 is really the main flagship for Samsung for the year. While there are plenty of other devices (even from Samsung) it is their main high end device. The Note is a nice phablet, but the sales numbers of that are no where near where the Galaxy S line does.

The LG G2 is an incredible phone. But you don't come off as credible when you accuse Samsung of doing the same thing LG is.

LG's custom UI layer needs a LOT of work. In many areas it's worst than TouchWiz.

"LG's custom UI layer needs a LOT of work. In many areas it's worst than TouchWiz."

True, but it's still not as bloated, and more importantly doesn't have the bloatlag that Sammy devices can tend to get.

STill though, day one - rooted it and closed all the LG and Verizon apps. Then adjusted DPI for more screen realities ... The damn thing just flies and the battery life is insane!

You realise you can wipe all these phones right? Who the hell cares what software comes with it?

I dont care, and I do wipe mine. The context above was about Samsung bloat, so I am assuming we are referring to stock OS. LG is bad, Samsung is even worse and the bloat causes chopiness at times form some users.

I would highly recomend to ANYONE getting any OEM skinned Android phone to go through the effort to kill the bloat... But alot of people dont want to do that. Google edition and Nexus are pretty clean, but OEM's go way too far.

You might be surprised how many people will pay $600-$700 for a smartphone and get scared shitless about wiping it. In fact it is jkust a rare few that are willing to take that kind of expensive chance with their phones.

I know if I were a noob at working with these phones, the idea of bricking my expensive phone there would have to be a very, VERY strong reason for me to risk flashing non-factory ROMS with Odin or TWRP and Rooting it.

Well. I paid about that much for my GS4 in July. Stock ROM lasted only an hour before I killed it lol.

Same here. But then I know how to un-brick my phones. Most don't.
