It will be released starting next week
has finally announced specs and a release date for its new flagship BlackBerry 10 (BB10) device, the Z30 -- and it's hoping for
from customers than the Z10 and Q10 could muster.
BlackBerry's Z30 will be the new big boy on the company's block, becoming the new top-of-the-line flagship phone for BlackBerry -- a spot once held by the Z10, which launched earlier this year.
The Z30 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED touch display, a 1.7 GHz processor and BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.
It also has the largest battery seen in a BlackBerry smartphone yet at 2880 mAh -- for 25 hours of mixed use -- allowing you to power extras like BlackBerry Priority Hub (manages all your conversations and notifications in one place) and BBM (messaging service specific to BlackBerry devices).
“The new BlackBerry Z30 smartphone builds on the solid foundation and engaging user experience of the BlackBerry 10 platform with features like the powerful BlackBerry Hub, its exceptional touchscreen keyboard and industry leading browser,” said Carlo Chiarello, Executive Vice President for Products at BlackBerry.
“The smartphone rounds out the BlackBerry 10 portfolio and is designed for people looking for a smartphone that excels at communications, messaging and productivity. Having apps like the full Documents To Go suite that comes preinstalled, together with its 5” touch display, the BlackBerry Z30 smartphone gives you a best in class productivity experience on the go.”
The Z30, which is meant to compete with the likes of high-end smartphones like Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy line, will launch starting next week in the UK and Middle East. It will launch in other markets closer to the holiday season.
The Z30 is an important phone launch for BlackBerry. Not only is it an attempt to steal back market share from the competitors that knocked BlackBerry down to where it is now, but BlackBerry is struggling to the point of considering an outright sale.
Earlier this month, the company's board of directors announced the formation of a Special Committee to
explore strategic alternatives
to enhance the value and accelerate the development of BB10. The announcement came only a few days after a
that BlackBerry might go private in an attempt to fix its problems away from the public.
Only days ago,
reported that bidders for the sale of BlackBerry
want only parts of the Canadian company
instead of the whole thing. More specifically, they're interested in BlackBerry's operating system and the patents for its keyboard. This further shows that BlackBerry is in such a bad spot that bidders only want to pick it for its valuable parts rather than buy the whole thing and try to fix it.
The first two BB10 releases -- the Z10 and Q10 -- have failed to grab consumer attention, but hopefully the Z30 will make a bigger splash in the smartphone market.

That's odd, because Android runs great on 2 cores. Even an old GS3 (without Samsungs bloat) runs great on 2 cores. The Moto X has 2 cores and runs perfectly snappy fast.
Some phones use slow memory, and some bloat it out. The combo is bad, but Adroid itself isnt the issue, it's poor implementation.
You comment alot on technical issues that you have no clue about. I just notice its a problem with you. You should probably do some research before posting. It goes alot smoother for you , and saves the rest of us from having to over-explain things to a newb.
