AMD Pringle pushers were seen across the street from Intel's stronghold at the Moscone center

As Intel Corp. (INTC) detailed its efforts around computer chips Tuesday morning, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) press representatives were seen on the street corner across the street from the Moscone Center giving away a different kind of chips -- Kellogg Comp.'s (K) Pringle chips.

The short stack (I got sour cream) bragged about AMD heterogeneous computing efforts, which include x86 based accelerated process units (APUs) (the once-precocious GPU-equipped SoC) and ARM Holdings plc (LON:ARM) licensed lightweight cores.

The chips -- "Bursting with flavor!" (mine were sour cream flavored and were okay) -- include a link to an AMD marketing page (amd.com/chips), which appears to be a guerilla marketing effort to steal some small bit of Intel's thunder and Intel's biggest annual press event.

On the site AMD writes:

You probably found us from the tasty can of potato chips handed to you on the streets of San Francisco. If you don't know who we are, take a minute and read our story and learn more about the AMD APU – a different kind of chip that is versatile and powerful and enables you to use your device how you want, when you want.
Is AMD's stunt funny, or did it leave you unappetized?  Is this clever guerilla marketing or shameless cries for attention?  Only you the readers can decide.

But on an editorial note, funny or not, I can't fault AMD too much for feeding us hungry reporters.

They were giving out potato chips, because if they were giving out AMD chips, no one would take them...

AMD is only competitive with price. Hasn't been competition for Intel in the high end CPU line since Intel was pushing pentium D chips.

People like you, is what make AMD seem bad. Apparently you never sold PC to the average user or low budget user. Not every one needs a i7 or i5. AMD offers a great APU.

At the end of the day, I'm happy to own my AMD. Most of you Intel boys were AMD fans during the Athlon XP and 64 days. the rest of you were just cum stains in you daddy's pants. P4 and PD were a joke just like most of AMD current CPU are now. I love it how everyone bashes either manufactures when the other one is down.

I do own and Intel i7 system and I still prefer to use my AMD. I don't hate on Intel nor AMD. Both have have good points and bad points. My HTPC (X58 920) and Asus G74 both run Intel. My gaming rig is nothing but AMD. CPU, GPU and even the ram (even tho it's just patriot memory with a AMD badge).

Just note, that future PS4/Xbox One you choose to buy will have that "trash" AMD as a CPU/APU/GPU inside.

I'm noticing the brominated vegetable oil chemical cocktail better known as a diet Mountain Dew sitting next to the chips.
