Lenovo's been busy at IFA 2013
Lenovo has had a busy week of
, and it just unveiled a few more at IFA 2013 including new Yogas and the Flex laptop series.
Lenovo announced two new ThinkPad Yogas (Yoga 2 Pro and ThinkPad Yoga), the Flex 14/15 and the Flex 20 at IFA 2013 in Berlin this week. These new models will be available as soon as this month and as late as November (for the holiday season).
The Yoga 2 Pro sports a 13-inch multi-touch display with native resolution of 3200x1800. It has a dual-hinge design that allows for four display modes, including tent, stand, tablet, and laptop. It's also thinner and lighter at 0.61 inch thick and 3.06 pounds. Under the hood is a up to a Core i7 with integrated graphics; up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, and 128GB/256GB/512GB SSD storage options. It also features one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, an SD/MMC card reader, and Micro HDMI.
The ThinkPad Yoga is an ideal enterprise convertible that offers Intel Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 CPUs; up to 8GB of DDR3/1600 memory; a 1TB hard drive with a 256GB SSD as an option; 12.5-inch Gorilla Glass display at 1920x1080 resolution; two USB 3.0 ports, and Mini HDMI. The rugged device will also have a magnesium-alloy shell and a lift-and-lock keyboard that retracts in tablet mode.
Moving on to the Flex series (which is appropriately named for its ability to pivot 300 degrees -- however, doesn't move into full tablet mode), the Flex 14/15 comes in -- you guessed it -- 14 and 15-inch configurations. The 14-inch Flex has 1366x768 resolution and up to 500GB in storage while the Flex 15 will have a 1920x1080 resolution and up to 1TB in storage. Both will sport optional Nvidia mobile graphics, up to Intel Core i7 CPUs, up to 8GB of memory and 16GB SSD cache drives available as options.
The Flex 20 is a pretty large all-in-one with a 19.5-inch touchscreen display, but only a resolution of 1600x900. But it also has up to a Core i7 processor, 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB hybrid hard drive with an 8GB SSD cache, two USB 3.0 ports, an integrated 720p webcam, stereo speakers, and battery power for up to three hours. What's more is that it's compatible with joysticks and e-dice.
If any of Lenovo's new machines strike your fancy, you can pick up the Yoga 2 Pro in October for $1100; the ThinkPad Yoga in November for $949; the Flex 14/15 later this month starting at $630, and the Flex 20 later this month starting at $900.
In addition to convertibles, tablets and laptops, Lenovo unveiled a new smartphone as well. It's strictly for the Chinese market, and it's called the Vibe X. It has a 5 inch display, 1920x1080 resolution, a Quad-Core MTK 1.5GHz processor, Android 4.2, 2GB memory, 16GB internal storage, a 5MP wide-angle lens front-facing camera and a 13MP rear-facing camera with BSI sensor.
Earlier this week, Lenovo showed off
five new ThinkPads
, including the the T440, the T440s, the ThinkPad X240, the S440 and the S540.

I have the (now) older Yoga 13, and it’s by far the best laptop I’ve ever owned. It’s a lot of fun to convert it into a tablet and pass it around to show pictures or videos when we have company over.
I’ve been wanting a second laptop for development work and light gaming, and this will certainly be it. Once you have a touch screen, Windows 8 suddenly seems like a descent OS.

To be fair, I think most peoples' complaints about Windows 8 are really on the desktop. On a tablet or often even touchscreen enabled laptops, I've heard a lot of praise about Win8. But as soon as you enter desktop... People using the desktop over metro, mouse/keyboard, etc... Metro becomes a huge pain over the traditional desktop interface.
