Nokia cracks on KitKat

Even though Microsoft recently purchased Nokia’s Hardware and Services division for over $7 billion, that isn’t stopping Nokia from ribbing its larger, more lucrative competitors.

Following the news that Samsung is set to soon release a device based on Android 4.4 “KitKat”, Nokia Germany tweeted a picture of a Samsung Android smartphone snapped in half with the notation "Have a break, have a..." implying have a Nokia device instead.

Clearly, the image is making fun of Samsung and trying to bring to mind the KitKat candy bar commercials that show someone snapping one of the chocolaty cookie wafers in half. And in case you were wondering, the widely rumored “Key Lime Pie” alias for Android 4.4 was voted down because it wasn't a popular enough dessert.

For even more amusement, be sure to check out Google's KitKat video which pokes fun at Apple and Jony Ive:

Considering the Google ad is brand new and nobody has seen it yet, that's a pretty obscure reference for Nokia to make. But, they may as well swing for the fences and try anything to gain mindshare.

As for the Kit Kat video - I think it's really funny. Go watch any Jony Ive explanation video from Apple and you'll see that they NAILED their choice of actor - he's got the exact same accent and sounds like a young Jony Ive.
