The LF-NX's design is definitely... interesting

We reported last week that Toyota is looking to add 15 new hybrids models by 2015, with the next generation Prius being the high-profile launch. The next generation Prius is rumored to reach for a 60 mpg EPA rating, which is 10 mpg better than the third-generation model.
Today, however, Toyota's Lexus luxury division has pulled the wraps off it next hybrid model. The LF-NX concept gives us a glimpse at what to expect when the company's production NX 300h hybrid goes into production. The NX 300h is a compact crossover utility vehicle that will slot under the current RX 450h.

The LF-NX (and hence the production NX 300h) is based on the 2013 Toyota RAV4 and is expected to use the same powertrain as the ES 300h sedan. That means we can expect to see a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system to generate roughly 200 combined horsepower.
The ES 300h is rated for 40 mpg EPA combined, but the more aerodynamically challenged NX 300h will most likely be rated far lower.

Speaking of styling, we don’t know where to begin with the LF-NX concept. The vehicle continues the use of the new “spindle” grille, which enthusiasts liken to the Predator’s gaping maw. And the overall exterior has a certain Transformers vibe to it.
We’re certain that Lexus will tone down the styling for the production, but the overall shape and greenhouse will likely transfer over to the NX 300h.

I was just thinking how it looked awful; as if somebody went after the clay model of the car with a butter knife acting like a samurai. It is different, I'll give you that.

Is this car a character in the upcoming Transformers 4?

I disagree, other than the odd front grill I think it's quite striking. I'd buy one, even with that front grill. There's nothing quite as awful as buying a car and having a half dozen other models on the road look just like yours. Of course I'm a car guy that would never buy a Camry or Accord...
