We're expecting to see the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Apple's iPhone event has been officially confirmed for September 10 in its hometown of Cupertino.

According to the invitations sent to the press, the September 10 event will primarily focus on new iPhone offerings and will take place at 10 a.m. PST at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, California.

The event is expected to unveil the successor to the iPhone 5, which could possibly be named the iPhone 5S. The 5S should have a faster processor, an improved camera and even a gold color option.

For the first time ever, Apple is expected to present two iPhones at one event. The second is the iPhone 5C (stands for iPhone 5 color), which is considered the budget iPhone. It will have the same internals as the iPhone 5, but will feature a plastic backing that could come in multiple colors as well as a price tag of $99.

The event invitation's cover says "This should brighten everyone's day" with a bunch of colorful dots. This likely refers to the fact that the iPhone 5C will be colorful, and that the iPhone 5S got a new color option as well.

Color is also a key change behind the Apple's upcoming version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7. Apple showed the new OS off back at its Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) in June, where we caught an early glimpse of  iOS 7's dramatic redesign in regards to the look of the icons and menu. The color scheme is much brighter and gone is the skeumorphic design of icons attempting to mimic real-world objects. Many have described it as "flatter" but with a new sense of depth thanks to layers and the frosted glass effect.

The new OS also has some improvements like Control Center (allows you to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to quickly access Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Screen brightness etc.), AirDrop (allows you to quickly share files with friends that are nearby), FaceTime audio (high quality voice-only calls over Wi-Fi), Notifications Sync (if you dismiss a notification on your iPhone, it is also dismissed on your iPad), and “iOS in the Car." Siri also got a boost with new, high-quality female and male voices.

Oh boy! Who else wants to come with me and camp-out by the store for a few days for some recycled iPhone5 parts in plastic??

Oh and new voices for Siri! Holy crap, amazing innovation!

It's enough to make P.T Barnum proud.

Yeah I'm so jealous, when can I get solid designs and ecosystem integration? Only Apple has that stuff!

Android is just gimmicky stuff. Who wants front facing stereo speakers, or phablets with S-Pens, or phones that perform tasks without you even touching them.

That is the definition of gimmicky. Perform task without touching the device. lol, the is the perfect example for a gimmick.

Front stereo speaker is actually kind of nice when you want to share music/video with friends.

Digitizer is nice to have when taking notes on a phablet.

I can check the time, # of new emails, any missed calls, notifications, and current battery life without even touching my phone. I use it quite a bit, such as when I am cooking or have wet or dirty hands.

Gimmicky? Not at all. Stop being an idiot.

Sorry Android fans, gimmicky features don't trump solid design

Pot. Kettle. Have you two met?

Is there really a need for a 'gold' iPhone? I can understand saying there will be different colors (5C), that's great - but to separately state that a new iPhone will come out in 'gold' is nothing but gimmicky. If you want to do colors, do it for all iPhones (anodized aluminum) and move on. Will the iPhone 6 come in gunmetal gray? Or the 6S in tangerine?

There is only one group to pander to with a gold iPhone - people who want to stand out (just like everyone else) and believe that a gold iPhone will make them elite or some other nonsense.

Nothing screams 'I'm important' like a person screaming "I'm important" into their gold iPhone.

Please, no one gives a crap about a different color phone. It is just another option. Unlike Droid imbeciles, Apple fan are not touting it as a new "feature." I for one will be trying to get another black iPhone.

...as a funny side note the only thing I have heard people talk about when discussing the new iPhone is the fact that it will be gold...

Back on topic though, you seem like a douche with no actual posts of relevance. You simply make claims that are backed by nothing and insult people using another ecosystem. People like different ecosystems, get over it, it's the same with everything. For instance I hate Win8 on my laptop, I refuse to use it and I switched back to 7 after a week. I hate Win8 on a phone environment, Android is much more suited for my needs. I love Win8 on my tablet because I think that both iOs and Android are completely worthless for a tablet (I didn't buy a tablet to play 100,000 games, I bought it for school). They might have more apps but neither have the only app I actually care about, and in a tablet form with a touchscreen Win8 isn't so bad (especially with the type cover).

Phonewise I've been using my Galaxy nexus for the past 2 years and I had a Nexus one for the 2 years previous to that, I have never had any problems with either phone and I still don't feel the need to upgrade my phone now. Even though my phone is old, it is still fun to use Google Wallet at stores and have people ask how they can do that with their iPhone, I tell them that they can't because Apple hasn't deemed it necessary for consumers to have access to that feature.

$99? I seriously doubt that.

It should either be free or $99 on contract. I think its gonna be free... So now all of the iPhones soild will be 16x9 and have the new lightening connector.

If previous model was used when the 5S is released.

$199 contract price point - 5S
$99 contract price point - 5
Free contract price point -4S

New model.
$199 contract price point - 5S
$99 contract price point - 5
Free contract price point - 5C

The end result is they leave the old 4x3 and old connector models out. A smart move by Apple, it helps their supply chain alot.

The difference for me being this... When something else comes along that is better than Android, I will drop it immediately and not look back. I don't care about it, or Google, or any of its vendors. I care about the tech and gettting hte best I can get for me... For nutjobs like you, you don't care about the tech, you care about the company (Apple) and stick with them long after better things have come along. Then you angrily defend your choice and get mad at anyone that points it out.

See the difference? Think about it.

But when Apple does release a different color phone, morons like you will gladly pen entire websites to proclaim how it's the best thing since man invented bread, and how Android et al. are now useless because they can't have those color phones.

Too easy.

As opposed to Androids innovation...

"Make the screen huuugggeeerrr!!!!"

"More mega pixels... MORE MEGA PIXELLLLLSSSS!!!"

I'm going back to Apple, my Android experience was a failure.

"I'm going back to Apple, my Android experience was a failure"

Android really isn't a good option for users that make bad choices in cheap phones and then don't have the time or skill to work with it. iPhone probably is the best option for you.

"Time or skill to work with it"

A finished product needs time and skill to make it an enjoyable experience??

When I go out and buy a car, I make sure to buy one that requires hours of training and expertise to enjoy.

LMAO

You are so far from getting it, you don't even know what you arent getting. Think MS paint vs Photoshop. Anyone can launch paint and use it. Photoshop takes some time to learn all of its features. IOS = Paint, Android = Photoshop.

My comment above is basically saying that guy is too simple for Photoshop and would be better served by Paint. The iPhone is a well build very fast phone that is extremely well suited for the non-technical user. That is a good thing, and obviously highly profitable. As for technical merit? It's years behind.

That's why you're ignorant, because Android innovation is in the software and how users interact and use it.

Manufacturers trying to one-up one another is why you get bigger screens and whatever spec upgrade that comes.

They don't get what they don't get... If they understood tech, they wouldn't likely be using iDevices. They would choose something better suited to the technically inclined. Not sure what they do here at this site though, other than just trolling things they don't understand. Small minds I guess.

I would be very interested in what that experience was. Instead of making a silly post, why don't you tell us what issues you had or what device you used? Something, anything, would be more helpful than:

quote:
"Make the screen huuugggeeerrr!!!!" "More mega pixels... MORE MEGA PIXELLLLLSSSS!!!"

Now come to think of it, these are the only things Apple have "innovated" with their own products as of late. Isn't it?

"Rawr the iPad has mega pixels.. MOAR MEGA PIXXELLLLSSSS!! RETINAAAAA!!!!!!"

lol
