We're expecting to see the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Apple's iPhone event has been officially confirmed for September 10 in its hometown of Cupertino.

According to the invitations sent to the press, the September 10 event will primarily focus on new iPhone offerings and will take place at 10 a.m. PST at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, California.

The event is expected to unveil the successor to the iPhone 5, which could possibly be named the iPhone 5S. The 5S should have a faster processor, an improved camera and even a gold color option.

For the first time ever, Apple is expected to present two iPhones at one event. The second is the iPhone 5C (stands for iPhone 5 color), which is considered the budget iPhone. It will have the same internals as the iPhone 5, but will feature a plastic backing that could come in multiple colors as well as a price tag of $99.

The event invitation's cover says "This should brighten everyone's day" with a bunch of colorful dots. This likely refers to the fact that the iPhone 5C will be colorful, and that the iPhone 5S got a new color option as well.

Color is also a key change behind the Apple's upcoming version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7. Apple showed the new OS off back at its Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) in June, where we caught an early glimpse of  iOS 7's dramatic redesign in regards to the look of the icons and menu. The color scheme is much brighter and gone is the skeumorphic design of icons attempting to mimic real-world objects. Many have described it as "flatter" but with a new sense of depth thanks to layers and the frosted glass effect.

The new OS also has some improvements like Control Center (allows you to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to quickly access Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Screen brightness etc.), AirDrop (allows you to quickly share files with friends that are nearby), FaceTime audio (high quality voice-only calls over Wi-Fi), Notifications Sync (if you dismiss a notification on your iPhone, it is also dismissed on your iPad), and “iOS in the Car." Siri also got a boost with new, high-quality female and male voices.

I for one want Apple to succeed. Android needs some competition and currently Apple is the only company that seems able to provide some. Three players (the 3rd one being Microsoft) are the minimum to drive innovation forward.
We all need this even if we hate Apple, it is an US company (yes I realize the manufacturing is done in China) that is very important for the US and the world wide economy. Without it you'd have Android/Samsun/HTC raising prices and marching unimpeded and/or a host of low budget iPhone clones from your favorite communist regime.

I for one want Apple to succeed.

I for one want Apple to fail.

Steve Jobs ain't around anymore.
E-books price-fixing scandal.
Total absence of customization whatsoever with its ecosystems.
Suing others for copying them, then turn around and do the exact same thing themselves.

False. Only its design, tech support and legal houses are based in the US. A huge majority of its manufacturing, save the latest Mac Pros, are still done by the same Taiwanese and Chinese ODMs.

Apple is NOT an US company.
Without it you'd have Android/Samsun/HTC raising prices

Wait, what? Are you implying Apple would never do that when it doesn't have to fend off competition?
a host of low budget iPhone clones from your favorite communist regime

Except the Chinese clones and blatant ripoffs are often more functional than the real deal.
