Leaked Bandit screen shot  (Source: evleaks)
Leaked image shows extra columns of tiles on the home screen

A leaked image has turned up on Twitter (courtesy of evleaks) that claims to be a screenshot from the big-screen Nokia “Bandit” smartphone. The screenshot shows a reworked on screen for Windows Phone specifically designed for larger screen devices – in this case, 1080p. The Nokia Bandit is supposed to have a six-inch screen and the expanded Start Screen shows two extra columns for titles.

Previously leaked details suggest that Nokia's new phone could be called the Lumia 1520 when it's officially launched.

Current Windows Phone devices only have enough space for four columns of the smallest tiles. The Starts screen on the 1520 shows six total columns of small files. Other rumored specifications for the Nokia smartphone include a QUALCOMM 800 Snapdragon processor, full HD resolution display, and a 20-megapixel rear camera.
The phone is expected to launch a Nokia press conference to be held in New York on September 26.

This has been a big week for Microsoft and Nokia with Microsoft announcing that it is purchasing Nokia's hardware division and other assets for over $7 billion.

That screenshot is ugly as sin. So much chrome and nonsense I thought I took a time machine back to 2010.

Whatever, I change it often, that is just what I put on a few days ago. It also looks much sleaker in motion, which you cannot see in a screenshot. The point is it's totally customizeable to suit your specific needs. To me, WP8 looks like its from the 1990's. WP also it isn't nearly as customizeable.

I'm glad it works for you. I love the cleanliness of a flat UI.

Not to call you out here, but could you explain why you think WP8 looks like it's from the 1990's? It is not reminiscent of any design language of that time. If anything, the flat UI makes anything chromed out look dated in comparison (IMO).

Your screenshot screams 1990's to me. Chrome buttons and animated backgrounds? The only thing you need is a MIDI file playing and you're back in 1996. I remember having an animated background on my laptop running Linux in 1997 and thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was a shame that the only thing productive I did in Linux was chat on BitchX and laugh at everyone getting blasted with teardrop.c and WinNuke. Those were simple times.

Not bad. It does look pretty damn close. All the more reason to stick with Android. LOL
