After its opening weekend, the movie only generated $6.7 million

The death of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs was a huge event in tech history two years ago, but the recent film to commemorate his career seems to be failing in the box office.

Even the Woz didn't like it.

"I saw 'Jobs' tonight," said Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with Jobs. "I thought the acting throughout was good. I was attentive and entertained but not greatly enough to recommend the movie.

"One friend who is in the movie said he didn't want to watch fiction so he wasn't interested in seeing it."

The film, simply titled "Jobs," was released in theaters last Friday. After its opening weekend, the movie only generated $6.7 million -- putting it in seventh place among new film popularity in regards to box office sales.

"Jobs" was directed by Joshua Michael Stern and starred Ashton Kutcher as Jobs.

"Lee Daniels’ The Butler" took the No. 1 spot in the North American box office, collecting $25 million. "We're the Millers" came in second place with $17.8 million and "Kick-Ass 2" took third place at $13.56 million.

Jobs died from complications with pancreatic cancer on October 5, 2011.

Have you picked over the Blu-ray/DVD new releases lately? Hollywood hasn't produced anything worth watching lately. I was excited about Oblivion...but disappointed again by dumb people making sci-fi movies. i.e. Just because things are futuristic, technical and advanced doesn't mean common sense magically goes away. e.g.(spoiler alert) you are an advanced alien that has the tech to alter the mind and clone an army from a species you have never come across before but you still have trouble rooting them out on their home planet and must rely on the clones for maintenance of your sea water suckers and advanced human killing drones? Dumbasses should be forbidden from writing science fiction movie scripts.

/old man mode.

Gotta agree, I really feel that objectively movies are getting dumber and more poorly written. People just tell me this is nostalgia, or make jokes about sounding like their parents or whatever, but I honestly know it to be true.

Speaking of excitement, did you catch the Ender's Game trailer? I predict our hopes will be dashed yet again.

Sadly when big stupid movies make zillions of dollars more than good basic sci-fi, it's no mystery why we're being spoonfed this garbage.

Serenity grossed just $25 million and change in theaters. Probably the best Sci-Fi on the big screen we've had in over a decade, and the stupid mouth-breathers out there didn't even freaking care.

I'm middle-aged, but gotta say I love watching the old classics on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) with my dad. Some of them worthless, but mostly great stories, terrific acting, no digital effects of any kind. And amazing to watch the credits--25 people or so and that's it; not the thousands listed at the end of a contemporary film.

And of course my dad lived back in that era and could recount all sorts of trivia about this actor or that one. You realize that their lives were just as complicated and stressful as ours.

And I agree that current stuff holds little interest for me. I was just at the Redbox today and again disappointed to see nothing worthwhile.

I did see the trailer; I haven't read the books but judging by Harrison Fords acting In the trailer I share your concerns. The wife and I just finished watchin the entire firefly series again including serenity what a master piece of story telling that show was. Even with the western theme its still far and way better than 99% of the sci-fi of the last decade. Whats even more sad is reading the reviews of these movies hundreds of mindless people giving movies like oblivion 5 stars... sigh.

Amen. My girlfriend loves Firefly too. And all I had to do was introduce it to her. No prodding or forcing.

I've found Firefly is almost universally enjoyed by both men and women, at least in my personal circle and extended internet associations. And that's not something most "science fiction" can boast.

Oblivion 5 stars? Just... wow, yeah that's pretty sad.
