It's fighting to keep up with the PlayStation 4

Microsoft gave its upcoming Xbox One console a graphics performance boost in an effort to compete with the PlayStation 4

Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten said that the Xbox One's GPU clock speed is now 853MHz, up from the previous 800MHz.

While Microsoft seems to be making an effort, it still doesn't quite touch the PS4. According to The Verge, the PS4 still beats the Xbox One in raw graphics power by about 40 percent.

Microsoft also announced other changes, such as a "mono driver," which is supposed to be a 100 percent optimized graphics driver for the Xbox One.

Microsoft announced its Xbox One console in late May. The new machine will feature an APU with eight x86-64 cores; 8GB of DDR3 RAM; a GPU based on an AMD GCN architecture; a 500 GB non-replaceable hard drive; three USB 3.0 ports; HDMI, and a Blu-ray optical drive.

Sony announced the PS4 in June, which is a $399 console featuring an 8-core 64-bit x86 Jaguar CPU built by AMD; a Radeon GPU comprised of 18 compute units (achieves 1.84 TFLOPS); a 6x Blu-ray drive; 8GB of GDDR5 of unified RAM; USB 3.0; Bluetooth 2.1; HDMI; optical out, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Sony has been ahead of the game with the PS4 thanks to the Xbox One being more expensive, having more DRM and being slower. The Xbox One has received a lot of criticism for the restrictions it placed on gamers, such as the used games ban and the new "always-on" digital rights management (DRM) system, which posed a problem for many people who are either in rural areas with slow Internet connections, travelling or experience Internet issues with providers. Microsoft later retracted these features after major complaints, and is now working to keep up with Sony.

Are you really that personally offended at the RROD failures that you need to deflect the thread onto Sony?

Dood, get a grip. Its a company with a history of quality issues on the consoled... Not a personal insult on you.

XBOX 1 did not have a bad failure rate.

XBOX 360 did Microsoft owned up and extended everyone warranty and addressed the issue. I also recall Apple, HP, and Nvidia having a similar issue and denying it. Apple turned up the fan speed in bios update to try and cover up its mistakes.

XBOX One designed to last 10 year on because Microsoft doesnt want to repeat the same mistake they admit to making with the 360 and one A-Hole (Retrospooty) shooting off jokes similar to a BSOD which nobody has seen in maybe 10 years.

"Are you really that personally offended at the RROD failures that you need to deflect the thread onto Sony?"

So... Yes then.

"XBOX One designed to last 10 year on because Microsoft doesnt want to repeat the same mistake they admit to making with the 360 "

I will believe it after 2-3 years with no high failure rates.

Stop getting all butt hurt. this is the internet and it's a company, not your mother were talking about. Freekin' whiner.

Are you even having the same conversation? I mentioned MS's failure rates. I was talking about a real problem on a real product. YOU, instead of commenting on that real problem on a real product get personally offended because you love MS as a company for some reason and try to deflect to talk about Sony's problems, as if it's at all relevant. It's like talking to a child here.

You made a comment about a product that had not been released yet comparing it to the 360. Your pretty ignorant to your own comments.

Your only motive for posting such BS is to try and convince people to buy a PS4. Touche.

I don't give a rats ass about Sony, MS or any company for that matter. Try it. Its called NOT being a fanboy.

I enjoy the tech and I call a terd a terd (unless its a turd). If that offends you when talking about known failure rates for your favorite company that is your issue, not mine. Get a grip and stop creaming over a company FFS.

You rather explicitly stated above that you DO give a rats ass and treat MS products differently.

??? I dont think so. I dont care about ANY company or it's BS. I care about tech and products. Any post I make is made from that angle, as opposed to people Like Mitch, or Tony Swash, who care about the company itself and defend it to the end. IF MS winds up with the best products, I will buy it. If its Sony or Google or Apple, I will buy it. I will buy the best products that suit my needs. I use Win7 and love it. Not impressed with Win8 at all. IF you think that makes me an MS hater you are mistaken. I work with Servers all day long, mostly MS from 2003 to 2012 and am very impressed with MS's whole package. Win8 and XBO? Not at all. See the difference? I like some and hate some products, but NONE of it is pro or con for the company. Each product sinks or swims on its own.
