Facebook might be in for some backlash with move to video advertisements

A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. Many people claim to despise the site as a boastful waste of time and energy, while others cling to the site to peruse over pictures of friends and family, or reposted memes from George Takei.
 
However you feel about Facebook, one thing is certain -- the News Feed is about to get a whole lot more annoying thanks to new video ads.
 
According to a Bloomberg report, the Facebook News Feed would be home to 15-second advertisements. No more than three of the 15-second ads will be shown over the course of the day, but to many people; one is already too much.

 
The monetary potential for Facebook with this move is huge. The company has over 1.5 billion users, and roughly 61 percent of those users visit the site at least once a day. Each ad is expected to fetch between $1 million to $2.5 million per day, so Facebook stands to profit handsomely from this new venture.
 
With many eyeballs scanning Facebook instead of (or in addition to) television screens during primetime hours, they also stand to benefit from reaching a broad customer base. “Every night, 88 million to 100 million people are actively using Facebook during prime-time TV hours in the United States alone,” said Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg last week.
