Amazon hires big ahead of presidential visit

With many Americans out of work and looking for a job to help pay the bills, the possibility of any new job opening is often exciting news. If you happen to live in a city where Amazon has a fulfillment center, it's time to dust off that resume and head over for an interview. The company has announced that it's looking to fill more than 5,000 new full-time jobs in 17 of its fulfillment centers across the United States.

This new hiring spree will increase Amazon's full-time fulfillment center staff by about 25%. Amazon needs worker so badly that it has reportedly created special programs to help lure applicants.

This program is called Career Choice and will pay thousands of dollars to warehouse employees to get them to take technical and vocational courses in areas Amazon needs help in including engineering, information technology, transportation, and accounting.

Not surprisingly, the massive hiring push comes ahead of a visit by President Obama to an Amazon fulfillment Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee this week to speak about job creating in the United States.

During this past holiday season, Amazon brought on an additional 50,000 temporary workers to keep up with customer demand.
