T-Mobile drops upfront devices costs for a limited time

T-Mobile has been capturing a lot of headlines in the past few weeks, mainly due to its new JUMP! smartphone upgrading plan, and for smacking down larger carriers that have unveiled similar plans. Now T-Mobile is looking to grab a bit more attention for itself with a new summer promotion that will allow customers to get a new, top-of-the-line smartphone for zero dollars down.

While customers won't have to pay for the device upfront, they will have to pay for full cost of the phone in 24 equal monthly payments (which are in addition to your normal service contract).

For example, an iPhone 5 (16GB), Samsung Galaxy S4, BlackBerry Q10, and Nokia Lumia 925 would cost customers an extra $27, $25, $20, and $25 respectively per month under the installment plan.

"The number of reasons not to switch to T-Mobile this summer is ZERO," said T-Mobile US CEO John Legere. "This is a fantastic offer and we're making it easier than ever for customers to get the latest amazing devices. Adding Zero Down in addition to JUMP!, and Simple Choice with no contract is all about making wireless work for consumers and shaking up this industry."

The promotion begins on July 27 and will last for a "limited time".

So, just because your contract runs through November should be the reason #1 why nobody should switch to TMo?
