It will reportedly be a low-end phone for about $325 USD
Nokia is on the verge of releasing
, but this time, it'll be a low-end model with the largest screen the company has unveiled yet.
Nokia will launch the Lumia 625 in the coming weeks, which is an effort to offer more affordable Windows Phones. The new phone will feature a 4.7-inch screen, which will make it one of the larger Lumia's to date.
The Lumia 625 will also have a a dual-core 1.2GHz S4 processor, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera and a 800 x 480 (WVGA) resolution.
It's expected to launch at about $325 USD in a variety colors. However, a solid release date for the U.S. hasn't been announced yet.
It's important for Nokia to release less-expensive models of its Lumia line so that it can reach many different people with different price points.
A lot of the Lumia phones, such as the recently-announced
, are high-end devices that pack a ton of features for a steeper price. For instance, the 1020 -- which will have features like a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core, 2GB DRAM, LTE, NFC and a whopping second generation 41 MP, 1/1.5" sensor with 1.1 micron backside illuminated (BSI) pixels -- will run about $602 USD.

512MB ram means nothing at all without any context. You only need as much ram as required to run the operating system, and whatever programs are needed. Even if the OS used a full half of the RAM, and left only 256 for other apps, that is still a huge amount of ram for the context of smart phone apps. I guess if you want everything running in the background unsuspended at all times you will need more ram (and a gigantic battery), but smartphones pretty much only let you do one thing at a time. If the phone came with 2GB of ram you would probably think it is awesome, even if you full well knew that 1.5GB of that ram sat idle 100% of the time.
