New Surface Pro model coming next week

When it comes to Microsoft's Surface and Surface Pro tablets, the Redmond, Washington-based company hasn't exactly had a hit on its hands. One might say that a lack of storage space isn't the primary reason for consumer's apprehension of Surface, but that isn't stopping Microsoft from making available an even more expensive version for the U.S. market.
According to Windows Phone Central, the 256GB Microsoft Surface Pro that made its way to Japan in late May will wind up on our shores next week. The price of entry for the new model is a hefty $1,199 at CDW.

According to Windows Phone Central, the increase in storage capacity is the only change this time around, so those hoping to score a Surface Pro with Haswell power will have to wait until a refresh comes along.

Do you want it to perform magic spells as well? What you're asking for doesn't exist at any price. To cut the weight and thickness in half they would need to remove the battery or invent new technologies.

Basically you want the most amazing device ever created and you want it for cheap. Ridiculous.

Not really, all he wants is Haswell and a better display.

You can't cut thickness by half, but you can cut it by about 33% to around 9-10mm, matching the ipad.

Actually you can cut the thickness in half.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z is 6.9mm (Surface Pro is 13mm).
And the weight is 495g vs 907g.

That's an Android tablet with a Snapdragon SOC... so who cares? The comparison is meaningless.

Oh really? That's funny, because, for example, Sony didn't invent any new technologies with Xperia Tablet Z, and it's half the thickness and half the weight of the overpriced brick from Redmond.

I just looked up the hardware specs for the Xperia. It runs Android instead of Windows 8, uses a Snapdragon processor instead of an i5, has only 2gb of ram vs 4gb, 16gb/32 of internal storage vs a 64/128/256 SSD. The pro has a HD4000 graphics card but I don't know what the Xperia runs. Also the pro can add an external monitor. I use Photoshop CS5 and steam on my pro. I don't understand the comparison. Did I miss something or can I run CS5/ Steam on the Xperia?
