New Samsung TV costs $13,000
Samsung Electronics announced the availability of a curved OLED TV at an event that it held in Seoul, South Korea. Samsung says that the new TV will deliver quality images from any angle or vantage point due to its unique curved design. The TV features thousands of self-emitting diodes promising to deliver richer and brighter images compared to current LCD TVs.
Samsung says that its manufacturing technology strives to eliminate the potential for any defective pixels while also providing a “flawless” image.
The TV also features compatibility with Samsung's Evolution Kit that allows users to upgrade the TV to support future advances. The TV will be offered in 55 and 65-inch screen sizes supporting ultra high definition image quality.
Samsung says that the TV will be available in Korea at major sellers starting at 15 million KRW or roughly $13,000 in the U.S. making it roughly the same price as competitor

While Samsung says that the TVs are ready for purchase now,
reports that Samsung is having some significant issues with production. According to
, screens for these OLED TVs are coming from a small pilot line with an estimated yield of only 30%. The difficulty with production reportedly comes from problems in spreading the organic light emitting material evenly across such a large screen.

Curved screen on such a small TV is just silly. The whole point of a curved screen is to widen the field of view. But at 55" the FOV benifits of curving just don't make sense compared to just buying a larger flat TV whith grants inherantly larger FOV for much less cost. You wouldn't buy a curved 22" computer monitor for $1000 when you could just buy a flat 24" monitor for $300 and get the same FOV. There is probably a screen size where curving starts to make sense, but I don't think 55" is it, maybe more like 65" to 70".
I guess if you can only fit a 55" TV but you really want it to "feel" like a 60" TV then this is an option. But I don't see that being a likely scenario for someone who can afford a $13,000 TV. On that budget you can tear down walls, redecorate, and still affort a larger and cheaper flat TV.
Curved projection screens are a whole different story. Screen width is limitted by room width so regardless of the size curving is almost always going to be worth it. Curving canvas on a wood frame is much cheaper the building curved LCD arrays and is only a couple hundred bucks for DIY project.

You would want it to be bigger than 70". I would say something like 100+". Anything under that, your angle of viewing will be quite small. Moving from one side of the couch to the other will throw off the angle.

Beyond about 60", I would like a curved screen just so I can roll it up for easy transport. I needed to borrow a friend's minivan to bring a 60" TV back from the store. A 100" screen I could roll up and put in the back seat for the trip home from the store would be a lot easier.
