New Samsung TV costs $13,000
Samsung Electronics announced the availability of a curved OLED TV at an event that it held in Seoul, South Korea. Samsung says that the new TV will deliver quality images from any angle or vantage point due to its unique curved design. The TV features thousands of self-emitting diodes promising to deliver richer and brighter images compared to current LCD TVs.
Samsung says that its manufacturing technology strives to eliminate the potential for any defective pixels while also providing a “flawless” image.
The TV also features compatibility with Samsung's Evolution Kit that allows users to upgrade the TV to support future advances. The TV will be offered in 55 and 65-inch screen sizes supporting ultra high definition image quality.
Samsung says that the TV will be available in Korea at major sellers starting at 15 million KRW or roughly $13,000 in the U.S. making it roughly the same price as competitor

While Samsung says that the TVs are ready for purchase now,
reports that Samsung is having some significant issues with production. According to
, screens for these OLED TVs are coming from a small pilot line with an estimated yield of only 30%. The difficulty with production reportedly comes from problems in spreading the organic light emitting material evenly across such a large screen.

Retarded stuff for idiots

Why would anyone want a TV that shows constantly deformed images? It's the opposite of a old CRT TV, where they would bend outwards instead. I'd rather have stuff i watch looking accurate and how it's intended to be seen.
Just another gimmick for those idiots who like 3D TV's. 4k is only thing worthwhile.

If it's curved appropriately and you sit at the right position then it's actually closer to being real than a flat screen. But seriously, unless it's big enough(like a whole wall), you would have to sit at a very fixed position.

I was surprised, earlier today, when I crunched numbers for sitting centered and 3ft off-center with a 55" screen, using 2 radii of curvature (R=2.5xW and 1.5xW). I expected the off-center viewer would have better results with a flat screen, but the off-axis angles were more uniform across the curved screen.
Then again, 'can't guarantee my math was flawless, but the numbers looked sane. (Probably should also have crunched numbers for viewers sitting at 2/3 the radius to see how that messes up the angles. The manuf' seemed to have used 2.5x and that's further than I usually sit.)
Whether the ~3" distance "improvement" of the edges with the curve really adds anything isn't proven to me.
