Xperia ZR will ship in Q2
Sony has officially pulled the wraps off its latest
. The new Xperia ZR promises a high quality camera on with the ability to resist water. The smartphone comes equipped with a 4.6-inch HD Reality display that attempts to predict where your finger is heading to enable smoother scrolling.
Sony also equips the smartphone with its Bravia Engine 2 for improved video playback and graphics. Under the hood, the smartphone uses a QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor operating at 1.5 GHz. The device also features a 13-megapixel camera and can take images underwater -- the smartphone meets IP55 and IP58 standards for water resistance. The phone can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 m of water for up to 30 min. You do have to seal all the ports on the phone for the water resistance to work.
"The Xperia ZR pushes the boundaries on where and how consumers can use the full potential of their smartphone. By combining Sony's leading camera technology with the highest level of water-resistance, you will never miss another moment," said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.
"Bringing together the best of Sony's leading technology, media applications and easy one-touch connectivity with the largest ever range of NFC-enabled accessories, the Xperia ZR delivers the unique smartphone experience that people can expect from Sony."
Availability is set for Q2 of 2013 at an unannounced price.
