China calls the US the real hacking empire

The United States and several other countries have accused the Chinese government and military of perpetrating cyber attacks against both government and private assets. China's foreign ministry dismissed the Pentagon report published recently as groundless. In that report the Pentagon directly accused China of trying to infiltrate United States computer systems.

China retorted, calling the United States the "real hacking empire." The report maintained that China is stoking the fires behind its military modernization program with technology stolen using cyber attacks from around the world. China has been significantly increasing its military capabilities over the last year, has launched its first aircraft carrier, and expanded its anti-satellite capability.

"Promoting the 'China military threat theory' can sow discord between China and other countries, especially its relationship with its neighboring countries, to contain China and profit from it," the Peoples Liberation Army Daily said in a commentary that was carried on China's Defense Ministry's website.

The newspaper said that the U.S. is "trumpeting China's military threat to promote its domestic interests groups and arms dealers" and that it expects "U.S. arms manufacturers are gearing up to start counting their money."

China continues to maintain that it doesn't support or condone hacking. The Chinese government also claims that it has been the victim of hacking attacks in the past.

If the US government feels so strongly about China trying to hack us maybe we shouldn't rent bandwith for our military on their communication satellites?

There's not doubt that the U.S and China are both equally guilty of hacking, as are most other countries. You can rest assured that the U.S. and China are firmly and happily in bed with each other. I believe China's assertion that the U.S. is merely posturing in order to justify huge military spending. China poses no more of a military threat to us than Great Britain.

For a fun little experiment i recommend installing peerblock, then loading the chinese ip range from blocklist.com, and during the course of a day watch the thousands of times your idle pc will block chinese ip's trying to connect. Of course they could just use vpn's and proxy's to get around that, but still an eye opening experience.

China subscribes to strategy as laid out by the likes of Sun Tzu. What this means that that deception is a central and crucial part of the country's strategy.

In laymen's terms, pretty much every time China denies doing something--they ARE doing it. Lying is not dishonorable when it comes to one's adversaries.

China is so heavily invested in hacking, cyber-espionage and cyber-warfare, that you can literally watch the frequency of cyber-attacks rise and fall with the beginning and end of the classroom duty-day at China's military cyber school. I'm not making that up.

The USA needs to get a grip and FAST, or it is going to very rapidly lose every advantage we've ever had against/over China.

That is a hilarious picture of Obama. Props to the author and/or editor for including it.
