Intel confirms new CEO will take office May 16
We have known for quite some time that Intel CEO Paul Otellini was set to
retire this year
. Today, however, Intel voted unanimously to replace outgoing CEO Otellini with new CEO Brian Krzanich.
Kzanich will assume the CEO position at Intel's annual stockholders meeting on May 16. He has been Intel's chief operating officer since January of 2012 and his appointment to CEO makes him the sixth CEO in Intel company history.
“After a thorough and deliberate selection process, the board of directors is delighted that Krzanich will lead Intel as we define and invent the next generation of technology that will shape the future of computing,” said Andy Bryant, chairman of Intel.
“Brian is a strong leader with a passion for technology and deep understanding of the business,” Bryant added. “His track record of execution and strategic leadership, combined with his open-minded approach to problem solving has earned him the respect of employees, customers and partners worldwide. He has the right combination of knowledge, depth and experience to lead the company during this period of rapid technology and industry change.”
Krzanich has been with Intel since 1982.
“I am deeply honored by the opportunity to lead Intel,” said Krzanich. “We have amazing assets, tremendous talent, and an unmatched legacy of innovation and execution. I look forward to working with our leadership team and employees worldwide to continue our proud legacy, while moving even faster into ultra-mobility, to lead Intel into the next era.”

LMAO. Economics 101.
ARM based CPUs sell for less than $50 with razor thin margins.
Intel profits in x86 more than most ARM suppliers gross in revenue selling the tiny little cpus.
What powers all the servers that all our fancy Apps rely on. What powers the Cloud storage that all our data and pictures and music end up on....
Oh right, Intel HIGH margin Xeon based servers.
Watch the winds... Haswell has ARM suppliers quaking...

That and we already have atom CPU's running Android in a few products. It's fast as hell and not horrible with battery power. Atom is still on 32nm. Like a said, another process shrink and a few more power tweaks and it can easily be the best. It would be the fastest mobile CPU and very competitive with regards to power. Intel is always ahead of the pack on process. They were shipping 22nm CPU's when everyone else was beginnning production on 28nm. Next year, they will be on 14nm. A 14nm Atom with some Haswell power tweaks could rule the roost, if that is the direction Intel decides to go.
