MicroATX home theater PC goodness
Antec has announced the availability of the brand new Fusion home theater PC case. The Fusion is part of the LifeStyle family of enclosures. It had a rough development cycle and was first mentioned a few years ago. Constant delays kept the Fusion from ever arriving on the market. Eventually Antec canceled the original Fusion and released the Overture which was a large home theater PC case. In January Antec announced a new Fusion home theater PC case that had no resemblance to the never-released Fusion of years ago but shared the same home theater PC case concept.
The new Antec Fusion features support for microATX motherboards. Motherboard, hard drive and power supply chambers are isolated from each other for improved thermal performance. Cooling is provided by two three-speed 120MM Antec TriCool fans located in the motherboard chamber. Three drive bays are available at the user’s disposal—one external 5.25” and two internal 3.5” bays. A vacuum fluorescent display is installed on the front bezel, though there’s no mention if it’ll be compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Additional front-mounted features include two USB, one Firewire ports, headphone output, microphone input and a volume control knob. Power is provided by a custom SU430 HT 430-watt power supply.
Availability is expected early next week in California with availability in the rest of the country a few days later. MSRP of the Antec Fusion has been set at $219. Antec recently announced a similar line of cases a few weeks ago.
