Dell Executive Admits Windows RT Demand is Disappointing

Windows RT continues to struggle
With millions of consumers snapping up tablets running iOS and Android, Microsoft had high hopes of competing its Windows RT operating system. So far, consumers have yet to fully embrace Windows RT, or Windows 8 for that matter. In fact, many analysts are pointing to Windows 8 as part of the reason for the
woes in the computer industry
A Dell executive recently stated that demand for the company's first Windows RT device, the Dell XPS 10, has been weaker than expected. "Demand is not where I would like it to be at this point in time," Neil Hand, head of Dell's tablet and high-end PC business, told CNET. "The amount of market information about it is not good enough, and the market sentiment is still pretty negative."
Hand also says that the Windows app experience "has not been as strong as it needed to be."
Dell and Hand aren't alone in criticism of Windows RT. Windows RT is the first version of the Windows operating system specifically designed to work with ARM-based processors from NVIDIA, QUALCOMM, and others.
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has also noted that sales of Windows RT devices have been disappointing. Samsung even
to launch its own Windows RT device in the U.S.
The upside to poor demand for Windows RT tablet for consumers is that
has forced prices down.

Simply that RT sucks in every way.

Looking at the benchmarks such as those on Anandtech pretty much shows part of the problem:
Pretty much ALL WaRT tablets are overpriced crap. They costs as much as a new iPad3/4 or Samsung galaxy tablet with screens that are substandard a year ago... but the performance of these same tablets are easily substandard by many current SmartPhones and the iPad2.
- Little to no APPS (RT is not compatible with X86 or WP8 apps)
- Over priced
- Under powered
- pathetic screen resolution
- Looks like the publicly hated OS known as Windows8.
The SurfacePro / x86 Tablets are not selling any better... typical price is $900~1200... far outside the price of a $200~400 Android tablet. Oh boy, it runs Windows x86 programs, who gives a crap. A $350 notebook can do the same thing!
MS is in a severe uphill battle and they are a distant 3 or 4th place that most people don't care.
MS was stupid... they scaled down WinNT way down to the basics and stuck it on ARM class CPUs for tablets and phones, hence the performance suck!
Android works because Linux is far leaner and far easier to remove the things that were not needed... of course, if needed - someone can run a desktop Linux on their phone.
Microsoft poorly executed their Desktop/Tablet/Phone roll out of 2012... it seems like a good idea. I agreed it was a GREAT idea during the first half of 2012. But once I tried Win8 and learned more about WinRT... it doesn't take much to realize that failure was in the cards.
And there are people, in CEO positions that are paid way too much money who couldn't FIGURE this out!
It all could have been simple. Metro for Phones and tablets. Win8 for the x86 desktops that has a built in RT to run Metro apps ON TOP of the desktop in a window. So if a person bought a metro APP, it would run on all 3. Not position Win8 to shove TIFKAM up every ones asses.
I've already started my migration to LinuxMint, its the only OS on one of my notebooks. I have not mastered it, but I DO Like it over Windows8... easily. Its price is great $0. Free upgrades. Installs in minutes... and boots up as fast as Win8.
