Dell Executive Admits Windows RT Demand is Disappointing

Windows RT continues to struggle
With millions of consumers snapping up tablets running iOS and Android, Microsoft had high hopes of competing its Windows RT operating system. So far, consumers have yet to fully embrace Windows RT, or Windows 8 for that matter. In fact, many analysts are pointing to Windows 8 as part of the reason for the
woes in the computer industry
A Dell executive recently stated that demand for the company's first Windows RT device, the Dell XPS 10, has been weaker than expected. "Demand is not where I would like it to be at this point in time," Neil Hand, head of Dell's tablet and high-end PC business, told CNET. "The amount of market information about it is not good enough, and the market sentiment is still pretty negative."
Hand also says that the Windows app experience "has not been as strong as it needed to be."
Dell and Hand aren't alone in criticism of Windows RT. Windows RT is the first version of the Windows operating system specifically designed to work with ARM-based processors from NVIDIA, QUALCOMM, and others.
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has also noted that sales of Windows RT devices have been disappointing. Samsung even
to launch its own Windows RT device in the U.S.
The upside to poor demand for Windows RT tablet for consumers is that

It doesn't matter how goot RT is. It already lost and nothing can save it. If blackberry is a dead man walking, RT is too. All manufacturers already know this. Dell is only pretending otherwise but they will not invest any significant money into the new RT hardware. Microsoft is possibly only one left beliving if not pretending otherwise. They might try to "fix" it but it is a lost cause. RT will be cancelled and abandoned soon as many other dead end Microsoft technologies in the past. I wouldn't buy RT even if it would cost $150 because Android is simply a much better choice. It does everything that media consumption customer want to do on the touch enabled device, it is aesthetic, it is cheap, it allows to install uncensored applications and it has zillion of high quality apps. If I wan't to be cool and have $500 I would buy iPad because it is aesthetic, super cool and also have zillion apps (albeit censored). Microsoft is neither. It has zero competitive advantage over either iOS or Android in the tablet market and the Metro product has no legs to change that. Too ugly, too primitive, lacking apps, censored by Microsoft store. Metro is simply ugly and childish and Microsoft is simply uncool. On the laptop and desktop for content creation Metro is an obstacle. Touch enabled desktop or laptop is ergonomical nonsense. No one who creates content has any need for Metro or touch for that matter (except for debugging apps being designed for tablets). They want desktop and that is where Microsoft strength is and will remain. Metro and RT in particular was nice try Microsoft, but can we go back to business.
