It's being called the HTC "first" and it comes in red, white, light blue and black

Photos of the upcoming Facebook phone have made their way to the internet, and many are saying it looks like a large iPhone.

It was recently confirmed that HTC would be making the hardware for the Facebook phone, and that the device is supposedly called HTC "first." By the looks of the photos circulating around the Web, the "first" looks like a large iPhone -- but with a colorful touch.

As you can see from the photo, the HTC device comes in red, white and light blue. There is also a black model.

The HTC device will be powered by the Android operating system with some Facebook flavor. It is not expected to be a full rewrite of Android, but rather a version that is just heavily integrated with Facebook's different features. It is said to have a Facebook homescreen and native apps like Facebook Messenger.

The phone could provide Facebook news feed stories right on the home page, link your phone contacts with those who are also Facebook friends, etc. It is expected to be a full social phone experience.

There has also been talk about a Facebook launcher rather than a fully customized Android OS.
Might want to be careful with that design, HTC; Apple has been on a lawsuit spree

And here come the Apple lawyers

I understand that the Apple bashing routine is getting old, but this is an obvious candidate for however many vague patents Apple lawyers claim this phone infringes on.

The red, black, and light blue model should be fine but they should know by now Apple has a patent on the color white.

It doesn't look like an iPhone. It looks pretty much the same as an HTC Increible 2. Hell, it just looks like pretty much any other rectangular smart phone on the market.

It's all a moot point anyway.
HTC and Apple have a cross-licensing agreement, even if the details of it are rather scant.

So if I were able to pin a Facebook app to be my home screen then where does it leave a Facebook Phone?

The big sell would be you being able to play the facebook games that people get addicted to otherwise pass.

Rectangle with rounded corners = iPhone. Yep.

Eat donkey dicks, apple.

*All* smartphones essentially look exactly the same. Ergo, f%ck Apple.

Yeah, this would look exactly like the 3G if you took some black electrical tape and taped off about 1/4" off the top and another 1/4" off the bottom. There, giant bezels, just the way iPhone fans want it. Oh, and while they're at it disable two of the three buttons because nobody needs more than one button.
Tiffany should be fired. I read one article and she screwed up the use of its and now she's just outright saying anything looks just like an iPhone. Can her ass.

HTC has a cross-license agreement with Microsoft and Apple.
