Google Unveils New Maps Engine Lite Beta

There are a lot of situations where a map comes in handy, and not simply when you're trying to get from one place to another. Many businesses use maps to give customers information on services provided in specific areas and even retail locations. You can also use maps to show people where specific points of interest are in any given area.
Google has announced a new feature that will make it easier for individual users and businesses to create customized maps showing personalized information. Google has announced that it has launched its Maps Engine Lite beta tool. The new maps platform allows users to create and share custom maps via an easy-to-use tool.
"Of course, experts aren’t the only ones who love to make maps. Today we're launching Google Maps Engine Lite (Beta), so any mapping enthusiast can now create and share robust custom maps using this powerful, easy-to-use tool. You can import small spreadsheets of locations onto a comprehensive map, visualize those places through a variety of styling and drawing options, and organize and compare up to three different data sets for your non-business purposes," wrote Google product manager Beth Liebert.

Google points out that this service is available in English only during its beta period. Google is also looking for users to provide feedback to help it build out more capabilities within the Maps Engine product.
