Pre-orders have already started

When it comes to first person shooters, one of the most popular franchises comes from DICE and EA in the form of Battlefield. The next game in the franchise will be Battlefield 4, and DICE has revealed that the fourth game in the franchise will be a new benchmark in game design and multiple player engagement.

Battlefield 4 will launch in the fall of 2013 using the proprietary Frostbite 3 game engine. The developers promise the game will give players a glimpse into the future of interactive entertainment.

In the single player mode, players will be able to experience huge environments filled with all sorts of destruction along with an arsenal of different vehicles, weapons, and more. In the single player missions, players will be able to direct squad mates and the single player mode will track the player's progress. The game will require players to work with their squad mates in both the single player campaign and multiplayer modes.

"We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm. To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward. Today's demo was just the beginning -- we have so much more in store," said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President, EA Games Label.

Players can pre-order Battlefield 4 at participating retail outlets and will perceive the Premium expansion pack at no additional cost with their pre-order. The Digital Deluxe Edition will be available exclusively as a download via Origin.

Yeah! frigging overprice, frigging garbage DLC an easy way for them to make a quick buck...

I have played BF3 for 300+ hours.
It is absolutely worth the price I paid for the game.

I spent much more on hardware upgrade to play this game with all eye candy turned on. EA developers certainly deserved the price I paid upfront for the game..which is absolutely amazing.

BF4 looks even better and I would pre-order as soon as they open it.

Regenerating health, grinding for gear and perks, slower gunplay, boring "realistic" physics, frigging Rush Mode, bleh. The game looks gorgeous but this might be the first one I skip. BF3 was such a downgrade from BC2 and this looks like more of the same.

BF1942 is still the peak of the series, so insanely fun, goofy physics and WAKE ISLAND. I miss the old DICE. :/

I prefer slower gunplay. I'm quite happy with BF3. Hardcore mode removes regenerating health and grinding for gear is now an expected part of these types of games. They do start you off with the best rounded guns in the game except for the sniper rifles.

Yeah, it all comes down to personal preference. Slower gunplay clearly works for lots of people, otherwise the trend in FPS wouldn't have continued in that direction. :)

What's slow about it? You guys sound like you haven't played. Seriously I'm on there nearly every night. Fun as all get out.

It's slow, in that it's not 'tourney'-style as Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament were.

I miss Rocket Arena so much.. :(

BF3 was not a sequel to BFBC2... They are two different game families. BF3 has more tactical gun play, i.e. not running about half cocked where you kill someone, run out your clip, and get mown down by another spray master. Battlefield means tanks, jets and tactics. BFBC was a faster game style with smaller maps.

Slow? this is battlefield not Quake, I'm all for making it as realist as possible and doing a 360° shouldn't be in a blink of an eye.

Rocket Arena was a rush! I played every single iteration of it up until Quake 3. RIP Quake 4. It should have been popular online but alas it wasn't. :( UT was awesome too. Ahhh the days of hardcore shooters and... hardcore players are fading.

At least we have Mechwarrior Online despite its flaws. The gameplay is still a rush and punishes noobs harshly until they learn the game.

No ships, no goofy vehicle physics, not the same
