French court says no working nights for Apple employees

The High Court of Paris handed down a €10,000 fine and a ban and this week preventing Apple employees from working during the night at seven Apple stores within France. The ban prevents Apple from making retail employees work between the hours of 9 PM until 6 AM the following morning. The court also instituted a penalty of €50,000 per provisional infringement if Apple has employees working between those hours.

"This decision is very good and reflects the desire of Justice to enforce the night work", welcomed Eric Scherrer, CFTC trade employees, which emphasizes "a severe sentence."

"We just ask that the law is respected," Thomas responded in turn Bordage SUD trade, which explains that "the shops close at 2100, but the time for employees to put everything in order and work in workshops some may work until 11:00 p.m. ".

Under French law, working at night between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM needs to be justified to ensure the continuity of economic activity or social utility to be legal.
The stores covered in the judgment include those located in Opéra in Paris Velizy 2 (Velizy-Villacoublay, Yvelines), Parly 2 (The Chesnay, Yvelines), Carré Sénart (Lieusaint, Seine-et-Marne), Val d'Europe (Marne-la-Vallee, Seine-et-Marne), Cape Town 3000 (Nice, Alpes-Maritimes) and Atlantis (Saint Herblain, Loire-Atlantique).

No, that is the American way. Allow companies to become out of control in power of labor and make workers so scared that they will do anything to keep their job.

Perfect example: I worked at a call center for tech support for a certain drug maker's sales force. There were two call centers, one in the good old USA and one in Canada. The phone line would accept call up until 10 PM. I was scheduled to work until 10 PM. Canadians were scheduled until 10:30 PM. If I received a call at 9:59, I would have to take it and stick with it even if it would take an hour. I never knew I was getting off work. I would also miss breaks during increased call volume. I even had to work on Father's day (I skipped out on those losers.)

Canadians did not have to endure this at all. They were scheduled until 10:30 and that was it. If the call was about to last longer they would end it. Why was this? Because it was law that they could not be asked to work pasted their schedule. What's also funny is that my Canadian counterpart made the same money as I, paid the same taxe rate, yet didn't have to pay for "health" insurance. It was already included in their taxes.

I can gaurantee you that most that work on 3rd shift would rather not and are only doing it because they have to. As for the few odd customers that come in after hours, too bad and so sad for them. They can make it during the 15 hours they are open.

But hey, if you enjoy being bent over by your employer, please don't worry what the French are doing.

Oh poor you! You had to work just like everyone else! It's not a holiday you actually get off.

man, you sound like someone I would NEVER hire in the first place.

In any case, you are free to not work there. So, if you don't like it, move on.

We don't need laws saying that if you get a call 1 minute before your shift ends the government will stand up for you and force you to hang up at 10pm. Besides, once the government starts with a law that forces you to leave when you get a call 1 min before the shift is over, all of the people getting calls 2 min before their shift ends will start complaining.

Work is hard. If you don't like the job you have, you are free to learn a skill that will provide you with a better job or at least one that you will like better. It won't be easy. But at no time in the history of mankind has more information or opportunity been available to the average class of people.

I'll allow you, a bottom feeder, to work at night with the other losers.

If I received a call at 9:59, I would have to take it and stick with it even if it would take an hour.

It's called customer service and going above and beyond the minimum standards. You got paid for extra hour of work as well.

As for the few odd customers that come in after hours, too bad and so sad for them.

Of course, I'm sure when it comes to you being customer and wanting service....I'm sure you become the biggest A$$ in the room if you don't get great service.

Nope, sorry for YOU. You obviously will NEVER be a successful business owner and chances are you won't even climb the ladder, unless you get a mulligan.

Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that if your happy doing the same job for 30 years....just don't expect to make much more than minimum wage with that kind of work ethic.

Employers do not exist to serve the employees...they exist to serve the customers and be profitable....Investors do NOT invest in failing companies....they invest in profitable companies. Failing companies close and those employees go on unemployment.

I sure everyone else can clearly see...You just will never get it. No light bulb moment in your future.

Best wishes on your survival,

Let's see. I got fired and they had to pay me for over a year because they fired me for wrong cause.

I found a much better job and now have banker's hours and no stupid tech support over the phone. And my salary is about 60% more.

Good luck with your sorry life.
