Pricing will start at under $900
Dell has announced a new all-in-one computer called the XPS 18 that it says is its thinnest, lightest, and most versatile AIO ever. The computer is set to launch in the U.S. and in select European countries on April 16 with a starting price of $899.99.
The machine features an 18.4-inch capacitive touchscreen supporting full HD resolution. The machine is designed to offer the power expected from the typical AIO computer while being portable enough to carry with you into different rooms of your home or office.
The XPS 18 will use third-generation Intel Core processors and since the machine has a touchscreen, it will support all of the touch capability that Windows 8 offers. The machine has an aluminum back with soft grip material for traction and comfort.
Dell says that overall craftsmanship and flexibility were two of the key areas of focus for the design team when working on the XPS 18. The device features an adjustable stand and can be used with a wireless keyboard and mouse. It also has fold out feet allowing you to set it on a desktop for comfortable working or watching videos.
Dell isn't offering up the full specifications for the machine at this point. For instance, we don't know how much storage or memory the machine will have. Dell does note that the XPS 18 will ship with the Wyse PocketCloud application installed allowing users to build and manage their own personal cloud that can be shared with Android and iOS devices.
Dell isn’t the only PC manufacturer to jump on this AIO/table PC bandwagon; Sony and Lenovo have also introduced similar concepts.
