The phone will ship March 22

AT&T is set to launch the BlackBerry Z10 near the end of this month, which will be the carrier's first BlackBerry 10-based smartphone on its 4G network.

AT&T will start taking pre-orders of the Z10 tomorrow, but the new smartphone won't ship until March 22.

“AT&T customers were the first to experience BlackBerry smartphones and services in the U.S. and we are thrilled to bring the next evolution, the BlackBerry Z10, to the nation’s fastest 4G LTE network,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility. “Customers who have grown to love the tried and true BlackBerry experience will continue to enjoy the easy typing and the secure platform they expect with a fresh platform that lets them get more out of their smartphone with easy access to all their messages in BlackBerry Hub.”

The BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch display, an 8MP camera, 1080p HD video, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for up to 64GB, 356 PPI resolution, BlackBerry's new Touchscreen Keyboard, and the new BB10 operating system.

The Z10 will also offer BlackBerry Hub, which is a central location for emails and conversations; BlackBerry Messenger for video and text conversations, and BlackBerry Balance for keeping work and personal content separate (and secure).

Looking to pick one up? It'll cost you $199 with a two-year AT&T contract.

BlackBerry announced its new BB10 operating system back in January of this year. At that time, it introduced the Z10 and the Q10, where the latter is a 3.1-inch, keyboard-equipped phone. 

Just last week, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said Z10 sales in Europe were encouraging, and even mentioned that the "product is attracting users that are currently on other platforms."

Actually, this is a very poor strategy, because the hardcore fans will be the first to get it no matter the price. Something like you are suggesting would make more sense once the initial selling wave has faded.

That was a typical comment of people who think price is all there is to sales. I see many "veteran" salespeople baffled when we give sales seminars teaching them how to work around the price factor.

True, there's people who will only look at price, but that's hardly the kind of customers BB is after. At least at this point.
