 BlackBerry Z10
BlackBerry is doing well with its new smartphone so far
BlackBerry recently launched its new smartphone called the Z10 in the UK and so far, sales are doing very well. The company announced that the new Z10 smartphone is selling nearly three times better in the UK than any of its previous models in the first week they hit stores.
BlackBerry also says that sales in Canada, which started on February 5, were up more than 50% from any previous BlackBerry smartphone introduction.
BlackBerry hopes to drum up positive reviews and sales numbers ahead of the U.S. launch for the Z10 in March. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said that testing of the smartphone by wireless carrier AT&T is taking longer, resulting in the U.S. launch delay.
So far, Bloomberg reports that the success BlackBerry has seen in Canada and the UK has done little for the company's stock. Shares of BlackBerry stock were trading at $16.05 at close Wednesday, leaving it slightly down from its highs its recent highs in late January. BlackBerry has seen its stock soar over 150% since September 2012 on hopes that BlackBerry 10 and the smartphones running the new software would be successful.
