BlackBerry Z10
BlackBerry is doing well with its new smartphone so far

BlackBerry recently launched its new smartphone called the Z10 in the UK and so far, sales are doing very well. The company announced that the new Z10 smartphone is selling nearly three times better in the UK than any of its previous models in the first week they hit stores.

BlackBerry also says that sales in Canada, which started on February 5, were up more than 50% from any previous BlackBerry smartphone introduction.

BlackBerry hopes to drum up positive reviews and sales numbers ahead of the U.S. launch for the Z10 in March. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said that testing of the smartphone by wireless carrier AT&T is taking longer, resulting in the U.S. launch delay.

So far, Bloomberg reports that the success BlackBerry has seen in Canada and the UK has done little for the company's stock. Shares of BlackBerry stock were trading at $16.05 at close Wednesday, leaving it slightly down from its highs its recent highs in late January. BlackBerry has seen its stock soar over 150% since September 2012 on hopes that BlackBerry 10 and the smartphones running the new software would be successful.

Ya, selling 3x more than previous models that no-one wants is not good.

Wait until its released in the US and lets see how it sells. Sadly, probably not well. In 3 months we will be looking at a whole s-load of 4.7 to 5 inch 1080p Android powerhouses, with many more on the way. On the IOS side we will have a clearer picture of the next gen iPhone and that possible cheaper model in the works as well. This phone isnt out yet and is only as good as the competition was in 2012. I am not seeing a whole lot of people switching from IOS or Android to BB.

Whether that is the case or not is meh for me at this point. It's just nice to see them turn around. This very well may help them take back off and become a player again. The fact that you no longer need a BES is very appealing to the industry. The new designs are nice. We will see what happens. I won't be going to it from Android but maybe others will.

I agree, I hope they do come back too. They are supposed to have several more phones in the pipline after these first two, so its always possible.

I hope they do well, and WP8 does well too. More viable competition means faster innovation and lower prices for us all, regardless of which platform we use.

No, not for Apple, because they probably wouldn't know how to make a sub 600$ phone "that is not a piece of shit".

Then they will lose
