Try testing using Memtest86, it sounds like you might be having memory corruption issues.

If you are, try clocking down your RAM. You're not going to see much difference between 1600Mhz and anything higher on a 3rd gen i7.

Exactly what I was thinking also. Sounds like he has an unstable overclock or memory issues. I seriously doubt this is a Windows app issue.
