Wi-Fi + LTE model costs $929

Apple's iPads are no doubt hugely popular with consumers, but the company has been notoriously stingy with storage space on the devices. When the iPad was originally released in 2010, it was available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models. When the fourth generation iPad was announced a few months ago, it too was still stuck with the same storage capacities.

Apple has finally listened to the cries of users craving more storage space by announcing a new 128GB model. However, be prepared to pay dearly for it.

IPad storage upgrades have always been priced at $100 for double the storage capacity, and the 128GB model is no different -- the 128GB iPad Wi-Fi costs $799 versus $699 for the 64GB iPad Wi-Fi. If you prefer to have the 128GB model with Wi-Fi + LTE, it will set you back a whopping $929.

The new 128GB fourth generations will be available in black and white starting on February 5.

In other news, Apple yesterday released iOS 6.1 for users of the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. And for iPhone 5 users that have been begging for a jailbreak, your prayers will finally be answered on Super Bowl Sunday.

That's one way to get the profit margin back up

I mean, 38% profit just isn't enough. Obviously!

Base model with 16 GB flash - $499. Add another 112 GB of NAND (at a cost of likely $10) and add another $300 to the price. Wowsers.

No wonder they will never add a micro SD card slot!

Well, they also want to make sure you use iTunes or iCloud (basically, one of their services) to sync and get your media. An SD card would make that unnecessary.

Ecosystem lock in is potentially worth a lot more than $300!

Whats hilarious, ask any life time apple consumer fanboy what a SD card is, and they don't know, cause most of their products do not have a slot for it.
