Surface Pro starts at $899

Microsoft originally told us that Surface Pro would bow in the January of this year, but it looks as though the Redmond, Washington-based company is running a bit behind schedule. Microsoft announced today that Surface Pro would actually launch on February 9 in the U.S. and Canada.

Unlike Surface RT, which runs Windows RT and lacks Windows software backwards compatibility due to its use of an ARM processor, Surface Pro can handle the entire Windows library thanks to Windows 8 Pro. The tablet packs in a Core i5 processor, 1080p display, Mini DisplayPort, and a USB 3.0 port. The tablet is also much pricier than its Surface RT counterpart, which starts at $499. The 64GB version is priced at $899 while the 128GB model will cost you $999.

The Surface with Windows RT was supposed to be the high-volume "mainstream" tablet OS while the Surface Pro was going to be the rarer "professional" tablet.

It turns out that the Surface RT has flopped and the Surface Pro will sell even less.

Why? Because you come from December 2013 after using your time traveler phone booth?
Check the reviews and even the comments here on DT, the Surface Pro is the gadget that the Surface RT wanted to be. It's "the coolest touch ultrabook" out there and it is definitely well priced (not like the RT).
So, get off the hateo'rade and accept when a good product pushes the market forward...

Take a step back from the 'techniness' of the tablet and look at it from your typical consumer. A consumer looks at a 10 inch tablet for $499 and then looks at this for $799 (plus $ for keyboard). How can someone justify the price difference, especially when most actual users hate windows 8.
