RIM gets ready for launch BlackBerry 10

RIM has been selling apps to BlackBerry smartphone users for long time now via its BlackBerry App World. The company has announced that as part of the preparations for the launch of BlackBerry 10 it has changed the name of BlackBerry App World to BlackBerry World. RIM says that the name change reflects a shift in the type of things that you can purchase from the store.

RIM says that BlackBerry World will have more than just apps for users to purchase -- the new store will also be home to purchasable videos and music. The new name reflects the fact that RIM wants BlackBerry World to be a one-stop shop for the entertainment needs of BlackBerry smartphone and tablet users.

BlackBerry World will support the ability to browse, download, buy, and manage apps via BlackBerry smartphones, the PlayBook tablet, and computers. BlackBerry World will allow users to share their favorite content via BlackBerry messenger, Facebook, and Twitter.

BlackBerry World also supports sharing by tapping NFC embedded BlackBerry smartphones together.

Yes, naming only goes so far.

I was glad Sega got out of the hardware business, although I did love the Dreamcast. The Saturn is what killed Sega's hardware business. It was nowhere near as good as the PlayStation's.

It was so odd for Sega to think the Saturn should have been a 2D console when their 3D arcade machines were the best out there (although very expensive). Their Model 2 and Model 3 boards were way ahead of their time. I still remembering seeing Daytona and Virtua Fighter 2 for the first time and being blown away by the quality. The "camera" got so close to the perspective corrected textures with no distortion or polygon jiggling and they looked awesome for the time.

I had a Saturn and there were some really good games for it, but they all seemed to come from their AM2 division. Apparently the Saturn was difficult to program and take advantage of the hardware it had, while the Playstation was pretty easy to program for.

Virtua Fighter 2 had great graphics as did that game Nights.
