"I don't care about these technology pets they have."

It's no fun being Wayne Dobson. Dobson isn't famous; he is a normal guy who lives in a home in northern Las Vegas. The problem is that a glitch with wireless carrier Sprint in the area sends a lot of people that use an app to find their lost smartphone to his front door.

According to the 59-year-old man, over the past two years, he has had multiple people show up at his door at all hours of the day and night demanding that he return their lost phone.

"It's very difficult to say, 'I don't have your phone,' in any other way other than, 'I don't have your phone,'" Dobson said.

The police have been sent to Dobson's home twice by mistake on domestic violence calls. The problem has become so persistent that Dobson has posted signs on the front door telling people he doesn't have their phone and to call the police.

The issue that keeps sending people to Dobson's door appears to be limited to some owners of Sprint mobile phones. Sprint officials have said they are researching the problem at this time.

"It's a hell of a problem," Dobson said. "It would be nice to be able to get a good night's sleep."

Dobson said the first time this happened was in 2011 at around midnight on weekend with an upset couple banging on his door demanding their phone back. Dobson and the couple ended up calling the police.

Dobson told the police, "I just said, 'I don't know these people; I don't go where they go.' I'm 59 years old. I don't care about these technology pets they have."

If you live in Seattle or King County, WA, you're insane if you answer the door without a gun if it's the cops. And you'd better call the State Patrol before you open the door and video the entire encounter yourself. Myself, I'd call the State Patrol and hide in the basement.

Case after case of the cops killing or maiming innocent people, and they're always cleared by Internal Affairs with high praise for a job well done. We've gone from a nice safe place to live to a gang ridden cesspool, and the gang wears blue.

Nice comment. A sad story is that of Kenneth Chamberlain's fatal shooting by police. Have a read of some of the related stories here:

It's also weird reading the comments here about guns and sensing just how much fear exists in the USA. Perhaps it stems from an individualistic society. Perhaps people have an idea that a gun will keep them and their family safe while failing to accept the fact that a gun is more likely to make your family less safe (according to statistics). I guess the attitudes also come from a distrust of government and police and mistakenly believing that a gun will empower oneself against the government. You can't compete against state forces by yourself and rarely even when amongst many others. The right to bear arms was set at a time when the balance of force wasn't so skewed towards the state.

Lets face it, some of the highest crime areas in the US are in areas where there is very tight gun control, this is not a coincidence. Since guns were banned in the UK the incidence of home invasion and violent crime has skyrocketed. Being gunless has really help protect people there hasn't it?

Skyrocketed indeed:

You can clearly see the sharp increase after 1997. If you stand on your head.

But you won't, because you have a strong dislike against substantiating your opinions with data?
