The report showed year-over-year results from November and December 2011 to 2012
It's no secret that Yahoo has had some troubles over the years with CEOs and keeping up with the likes of Google, but it doesn't look like the search company's luck is changing.
A recent comScore report shows that Yahoo's three key money-making businesses -- Yahoo Mail, search and the homepage -- have been in decline. For November and December 2012, search was down 28 percent (93.3 million to 66.9 million) and 24 percent (88.7 million to 67.4 million) respectively compared to the same two months in 2011.
From November and December 2011 to November and December 2012, mail was also down 16 percent (92 million to 77.7 million) and 12 percent (89.9 million to 78.7 million) respectively.
The homepage was a little up and down. It took a 17 percent hit in monthly unique visitors in November 2012 (91.8 million) from November 2011 (110.9 million). But it gained four percent in monthly unique traffic from 109.4 million to 114.2 million from December 2011 to December 2012. Total visits were up 14 percent while average minutes spent on the site was down 13.6 percent.
Yahoo recently gave mail a refresh and is in the midst of redoing the homepage too in hopes of bringing in more traffic.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, who was appointed to the position last year after former CEO Scott Thompson was busted for giving false information about his degree and stepped down, has been working to improve Yahoo's stance in the search arena, but it hasn't been easy.
Mayer attempted to make mobile more of a priority by giving all employees brand-new smartphones in order to understand what their customers are using, and help them offer better mobile products.
Yahoo doesn't release mobile results, but according to All Things D, mobile hasn't been raking in a lot of cash for the company.
