Gadgets RIM to Release 6 BB10 Devices in 2013

As Research In Motion (RIM) prepares to release its new BlackBerry 10 (BB10) software, reports suggest that the company plans to offer a variety of BB10 devices that will cover a broad price range in order to attract customers.

Throughout 2013, RIM plans to release a total of six BB10 devices. These smartphones will range from low-end to high-end prices so that they'll draw in customers of any budget.

RIM will release BB10 at an event on January 30, where its first two devices will be announced. One device will be all-touch while the other will have a QWERTY keyboard.

"We intend over time as we transition the portfolio to have a full range of devices," said Frank Boulben, RIM CMO.

RIM added that it doesn't have any exclusive relationships with carriers in the U.S., meaning that it has more flexibility and can attract more customers.

BB10 will feature a new user interface, BlackBerry Hub for combined inboxes/messages/notifications, BlackBerry Peek for switching between multiple apps without closing them and BlackBerry Flow for scrolling between apps.

What parallel universe is Pirks living in?
It was widely reported that all the major players (Apple, M$, Google, Amazon and Nokia) had a look to buy RIM but after reviewing their dire financials, stockprice cliffdiving, nothing selling through channels and nothing on the horizon until at least 2013 made them all walk away.
This by the way, was around the time RIMs Cap was approx. 7Billion.

I personally don't see any scenario where BB10 can compete meaningfully against the other Big 3 (Apple,Sammy,MS).
The potential for them to offer a more appealing, completely new OS without a keyboard(initially), with little to no apps or ecosystem from the get go it's looking like they haven't a snowball in hells chance.

I forecast them going the same route as Microsoft with their WP, they may scrape up to 3-4% over two years, with mainly the diehard RIM fans keeping the numbers up.

As for new blood to sell to, teenagers coming of the smartphone age don't a f**king clue who RIM are.
