Seagate unveils new video streaming portable HDD
Seagate has unveiled its latest Wireless Plus storage product at CES 2013. The 1 TB portable hard drive is able to stream video content through the mobile Seagate Media app available for Apple devices, Android devices, and Kindle Fire HD tablets.
The device also supports Apple Airplay, DLNA devices, and apps that are available for Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.
The Wireless Plus creates its own Wi-Fi network (this means that it can be used anywhere even if no existing Wi-Fi network is available) and can stream media to up to eight connected devices at the same time.
The hard drive has an integrated USB 3.0 adapter to allow for quick loading of large video and other files. In addition, the wireless storage device has an integrated battery promising up to 10 hours of use per charge.
The Seagate Wireless Plus is available now for $199.99.
