Shots aren't as detailed as the L-Series leak, but give us the best glimpse yet at RIM's QWERTY BlackBerry 10 device
Just last week, we got a "
" shot of the QWERTY-keyboard packin' BlackBerry X10 smartphone from RIM. While the shot wasn’t exactly high resolution, it did give us a glimpse of what to expect when the actual headset -- along with its
full touchscreen-equipped sibling
launches next month
This weekend, however, we've got some more X10 pictures from a person using something more than a 2MP dumbphone camera. The pictures clearly show the X10's relatively tiny (in today's world of 4" and 5" displays) display and QWERTY keyboard that extends from edge-to-edge.
The back of the display also shows the camera lens and flash. Given that this is likely a prototype unit, we can excuse the rather cheap looking finish of this X10 pictured. Hopefully the production models will have better graining than what's currently shown.

Lose the keyboard altogether, swype is faster than a hardware keyboard anyway,

They are planning BOTH versions. They are known for their physical keyboards so it would be stupid not to offer a physical version for those in their existing user base that prefer them.
With that said it would take a stupid amount of convincing to get me to consider using BB10. Even ignoring everything else I don't think QNX is the right platform to build on.

Hardware keyboards is BB's bread and butter. Most people that want an all touch screen phone are going to go with a different platform.
This phone is exactly what BB needs. A phone with their traditional candybar form facter with hardware keyboard (sliders and flip phones suck), but increasing the size of the screen by maximizing space. Making the keys in a straight line and getting rid of the call/end call/trackpad buttons allows more room for the screen.
Now they need to make another version just like that but even bigger, for those who prefer bigger phones. The bigger the phone, the less % screen real estate you're giving up to have that hardware keyboard.
