"Oppa Gangnam Style!"
There are viral videos, and then there are
videos. Psy's "Gangnam Style" seemed to come out of nowhere just five short months ago and has rocketed the South Korean musician to worldwide stardom.
Along the way, "Gangnam Style" broke the Guinness World Record for the most liked video in YouTube history. Speaking back in late September, Guinness World Records Community Manager Dan Barrett stated, "Having been the 'Have you seen this?!' video of the last two months across the web, it's great to be able to award a record for this tremendously popular video. In years past it was unthinkable that something would be viewed a hundred million times."
Now, "Gangnam Style" has broken another record; it's become the first video in YouTube history to cross the 1 billion views threshold. The next closet video is Justin Bieber's "Baby" with just over 813 million views.
We don't know how long the Psy Train will last here in the United States, but the catchy tune and eccentric video should be enough to buy Psy a few more minutes until his 15 minutes of fame is up. With that being said, anything that knocks Justin Bieber down a notch or two can't be
Guinness World Records

I don't believe that's precisely correct. According to what he said in an interview, PSY's target was not the denizens of Gangnam, but rather those who weren't but tried to pretend they were:
"PSY... said in an interview that he intended ... a twisted sense of humor by claiming himself to be 'Gangnam Style' when everything about the song, dance, looks, and the music video is far from being such a high class." [In an interview with Frances Cha of CNN, PSY said:]
"People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim that they are—it's only the posers and wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are "Gangnam Style"—so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they're not."
Clearly the visuals of the song are a parody. What escapes me, however, is the connection of this parody to the lyrics, which seem just routinely pop-song-like.
The song talks about "the perfect girlfriend who knows when to be refined and when to get wild."

Lyrics sound about right according to that explanation. He tosses money at things you'd consider part of a "rich" lifestyle, meanwhile he parades around like an idiot and sings about chasing tail.
HEEEEEEYYYYYY SEXY LADY isn't very classy.

I think the lyrics are meant to be a big cliche and thus part of the parody.
