One of two new BB10 smartphones gets leaked

RIM has a lot riding on its next generation smartphones and BlackBerry 10 (BB10) operating system. Most consumers, businesses, and government agencies have left RIM for dead, so the company definitely needs a winner to stay relevant in a market that is dominated by iOS- and Android-based devices.

For those that are still firmly in the RIM camp, a slew of new high-resolution pictures of the BlackBerry L-Series smartphone were leaked this evening. When it comes to new product leaks, we're used to being hit with the "blurry cam" treatment. But surprisingly, these images are high resolution and capture the L-Series from nearly every angle.

The shots give us a glimpse at the display, front-facing camera, rear camera with flash, microUSB connector, HDMI connector, microSD slot, and 1800 mAh battery. The black slab is quite minimalist in design, but it sure does have the commenters over at CrackBerry bringing out their pacemakers:

Glad I'm not the only one who has to change their underwear.
Dat glASS...
I think I did something in my pants, and my wife wasn't behind it!

Well, we can definitely see that the BlackBerry crowd is fired up, but are regular consumers and businesses going to come crawling back to RIM?

I see a micro-sd slot: check.
the back cover comes off: check
any updates that are released will be coming to the phones (first party hardware/software, etc): check.

This could be a real winner in my book. blackberry may never rise up to be a market leader again, but then again they dont have to. If their app ecosystem support is anywhere near as open as android, yet less constrictive than apple/microsoft (since they have their own music/video stores built in) then this could be great.

If blackberry can only get a video player as awesome as mx player or dice player, I would for sure try it out. Because as of now, there are NO android devices that are both currently updated AND have support for micro-sd. The nexus 4 was almost the perfect phone, but the no sd and NO otg support keeps it from attaining that. Rim has a chance

The Samsung Note 2 has micro-sd support. You have to take the battery cover off to access it.
