Amazon has announced a new content service for young Kindle users called Kindle FreeTime Unlimited. The service is an all-you-can-eat offering built from the ground up specifically for children. The service is available exclusively on the new
Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD
The service brings together multiple content types including books, games, educational apps, movies, and TV shows into a simple and easy-to-use service aimed at children age 3 to 8. The service promises unlimited access to thousands of titles including Amazon exclusive Android apps and games that are all curated for age appropriateness.
The services available to Amazon Prime members for $2.99 per month per child or $6.99 per month for an entire family. The service offers children's entertainment from Andrews McMeel Publishing, Chronicle Books, DC Comics,Disney, HIT Entertainment, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Marvel, Nickelodeon, PBS, Reading Rainbow, Sesame Workshop and more.

Since all the content in the service is curated for age appropriateness, children are free to explore all the content available on their own and choose what they want to read, watch, or play. The service includes some of children's favorite characters including Elmo, Dora, Thomas, Cinderella, curious George, and lots more.
The service offers individual profiles allowing each child in the home to set up their own account and have their own content. None of the apps offered in the service have in-app payments, advertisements, or social media links. That means you won't get any unexpected charges to your account and children won't accidentally click advertisements.
FreeTime Unlimited is available for users who own one of the Kindle Fire tablets via a software update that will be delivered automatically in the coming weeks. After the update is delivered, users will be able to sign up for the service.

I wonder if this service has a built-in time limit function (eg 30 minutes a day)?
Going to playgrounds and all I see is disconnected families, each person looking at their own screen but no one looking at each other.
It has become too easy to ignore the world.

I did check the website and it allows you to set daily limits or completely restrict access to certain content. So you have a different timer for Videos, Games, and reading books, as well as a feature to disable the internet browser.
Based on the advertisement it looks like its in 15min increments to a max of 2hr. After 2hr it switches to unlimited.
