DirecTV to offer to ultimate satellite TV package for a price

DirecTV, one of a few different satellite TV services to choose from today, is planning to offer a new package that includes everything. Everything.

DirecTV promises to bring the Titanium Package to a living room near you soon which, according to the ad, includes "Every channel, Every movie, Every PAY PER VIEW, Every sporting even, Every adult program, Every HDTV channel, Up to 10 HD DVR receivers, and Concierge service 24/7".

What does that mean? If that quote was not clear enough, it basically means those who subscribe to this package will pay about $7500 a year for every single channel available through DirecTV's satellite TV service, including those we would have to normally order through the box, for you to surf through.

Paying $7500 a year for channels you would rarely ever watch, if at all, is a bit pricey for a single person or family household but we're thinking this package would be great for multi-unit apartments and condos. But we're also sure DirecTV would never offer all the channels they have, including the PAY PER VIEW and adult programs, for $62.50 a month ($7500 / year, 12 months / year, 10 DVRs) to individual customers. The package is not yet available but DirecTV has a form you can fill out to receive an update when the service goes live June 28th. Fine print on the page also reads "Membership is reserved for a select few".

Note: The Terms of Service states that each account is designated to single dwelling units only so it looks like sharing this package between 10 different subscribers in an apartment building is out of the question as it has been since the conception of DirecTV and all other cable/satellite TV services.

I think they just have to many zeros because 62.50 a month for 12 months is $750 must be the ad they read it from must be wrong it can't be 7500

If you click through, DirectTV does state it costs $7500 per year.

I would feel sorry for anyone who watches TV that much to where $7500/year makes any sense at all.

This is obviously for the rich or for entertainment hobbyists. Defintely not for me. I have one step above the basic package and that's plenty.

I don't think watching TV all the time counts as being a "hobbyists"

You're telling me you didn't even finish the sentence before you had to comment on the math?

Imagint the sheer amount of content you could have after an entire year with 10 DVRs. Not that you'd ever need to record 10 programs at once, but you could. I guess that's what would make it really "ultimate" though. They'd have to throw in some kind of DVR that would allow you to record 10 shows at a time, and somehow organize it for you. I mean, there's like 4 porn channels and after an entire year that's like 35,000 hours of porn.

I know my Time Warner DVR can record two programs at once.

This would be prime for... shouldnt say it...

all of those HD channels... 10 recievers per subscription... you could print enough content to make a killing on the "Hollywood hates your guts enough to make the legit consumers suffer" market (see DMR or HDCP)
